Ditch the heels this party season in favour of a pair of fabulous flats. From pearl-encrusted ballet pumps to a low version of those Manolos and velvet slippers made for Christmas time, scroll to shop our favourite party shoes that will keep your feet happy and have you on the dancefloor until the very end.
As much as we love a good heel come festive season, we’re here for the comfort, too. Thankfully, the party flat has really come into its own this Autumn/Winter with designers such as Prada, Jimmy Choo, and Miu Miu all dipping their toes into the trend.
More into your platform heels? Why not scroll our favourites.
The icon that is Manolo’s Hangasi pumps is just as good without the heel. Available in a rainbow of shades, from rich emerald to understated off-grey, we love them with everything from ballet-esque tulle skirts to our favourite pair of jeans.
We love Jimmy Choo’s Ade ballet slippers with their velvety black square-toe and pretty strap of pearls and shimmering crystals. Pair them with leather shorts and a ruffled blouse for a high/low look that proves flats can be just as fabulous as sky-high heels.
If pearls, jewels, and princess-shape shoes aren’t your thing, Prada’s crystal-adorned loafers still have party written all over them. We love them paired with cigarette pants and a classic black smoking jacket.
For a pop of colour, it seems hot pink cerise flats are having a bit of a moment right now, from Boden’s embellished satin sling-backs to Zara’s rosebud-topped pair and razor-sharp pointed toes at Mango. Pair with cropped raw-edge denim and an oversized white shirt for a party look that’s polished but far from tryhard.
That’s the best bit about party flats (as well as the lack of burning heels and a handbag full of Compeed), they instantly bring an uptempo look down, making it a little more cool. Think velvety slippers with a wide-leg palazzo trouser – very Catherine Hepburn – or a Park Avenue-esque jewelled pump gone rogue with a pair of distressed denim. Equally, a statement flat can look just as fabulous poking out the bottom of an evening gown.
Zara’s cobalt slingbacks are a dead ringer for the iconic Manolo Hangasi, without the price tag. Pair with cropped jeans and a fine knit for an understated Christmas that has just a touch of sparkle.
