The only footwear we will be wearing ’til spring, boots are essential for the colder months. It’s knee-highs that are coming in hot this season and are giving the trusty ankle boot a run for its money. Scroll on for our favourites, from ’70s-inspired shapes to practical flats.

It’s the style we’ve been seeing on the streets and is already a firm favourite amongst the style-set. Knee-highs are reigning supreme but there’s two particular styles that have our attention. Chunky lug soles are the cooler little sister of the original wardrobe staple. Take style notes from Pernille Teisbaek and pair with a mini skirt (whilst we still can) and a warm shearling jacket. The mid-heel is the more sophisticated member of the family, chic and modern with a block or stiletto heel. Swap your bare legs for opaque tights and pair with a mid-length coat for an elegant evening look.

They upgrade almost any outfit, and with winter failing to make an appearance just yet, we’ll be pairing ours with leather shorts or a slip skirt until the met office says otherwise. When the temp drops, tuck in your leather trews, throw on a chunky knit sweater and you’ve just got yourself a fail-safe look. Heeled boots will look great for a winter wedding too – slip under a ruffled midi dress and you have the perfect 70’s inspired look.
