Sisterhood & Secrets: We’re All Set For Bad Sisters Season 2
When it first hit our screens back in 2022, Sharon Horgan’s dark comedy Bad Sisters was one of the best things on TV. No surprise then that it was announced that a second season would be on the way, which is finally set to arrive on Apple TV+ today. The main cast, including Horgan, will be returning, with the new season set to continue the story of the Garvey sisters from where we last left them in season 1’s finale. Here’s all we know so far:
What’s the plot of Bad Sisters?
Since it’s been a little while since the show’s last outing, here’s a quick recap: the Garvey sisters, comprising of Eva (Horgan), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene), Becka (Eve Hewson) and Grace (Anne-Marie Duff) all live in Dublin. One of the five sisters, Grace, is married to John Paul (Claes Bang), whose abusive and controlling relationship with her seriously concerns the rest of her siblings. With the show moving back and forth between flashbacks and the present, where the sisters are at the centre of a life insurance investigation, it becomes apparent that they were each plotting to murder John Paul and save Grace from a hopeless situation – sounds like something straight out of a true crime documentary.
Not only has he had a bad relationship with his wife, John Paul has also insulted or otherwise angered each of the sisters personally. However (spoilers for those who haven’t watched!) it’s eventually revealed that it was Grace herself who would finally murder her husband, having discovered he had sexually assaulted Eva and killed his own father.
What will season 2 be about?
Season 2 continues on from the fallout of the first, with the sisters now having moved forward with their lives in the years since. However, the secrets that they’re delicately keeping from the rest of the world threaten to resurface, and suddenly they’re once again unsure who to trust as suspicions run high. From the first look image of the series released by Apple, it appears that someone is getting married, with the sisters at their wedding, and it looks from her dress like it’s Grace who’s the bride- but to whom?
