You’ve arranged the wedding date, the venue, and the dress, but what about your nails? That fourth finger on your left hand is going to get some serious attention, so your talons need to be on point. Here, Robbie Tomkins, celebrity manicurist reveals the bridal nail trends to consider ahead of your big day.

Go Floral

Nail art is a trend sweeping across the globe right now. Take it up a notch and mirror this year’s wedding dress trend of ‘floral embellishments’ by getting petals or flowers applied to your nails for your big day. If you’re not into florals then perhaps try to nail trend with gorgeous drops, shapes, patterns, and textures – guaranteed to get some wows and perfect for your flower girls too.

Keep Clean

Bridal fashion is hot on ‘transparency’, aka sheer chiffon accents. Nothing is more beautiful than strong natural nails with a gentle white tip. If you’re a fan of gel or nail enhancements but want to go ‘au naturel’ for your big day, then Robbie recommends taking a break for at least 2-3 months before your wedding and start using a good nail strengthening treatment. Robbie swears by Protein Formula 4, £14.95. Not only will this wonder treatment help you achieve sheer and dreamy strong nails, but it doesn’t chip as the treatment bonds to your nails guaranteeing stress-free glossy digits as you float down the aisle.

Shimmer and Shine

Chrome continues to be a big nail trend this Spring/Summer and is definitely a look that can be worn by any bride, although it’s worth noting chrome works best on nail enhancements or acrylic/gel overlays, so a look saved for a professional at your preferred salon. Instead of full solid chrome, brides should opt for delicate chrome accents or flashes, micro-French tips, or negative space art where a design is created with gaps where you can see the nail bed. Silver, gold, and rose-gold chrome are the order of the day and complement almost every bridal gown. You’ll be sure to sparkle on your wedding day.

Velvet Touch

Cat-eye magnetic gel polish has evolved, with ‘velvet’ gel polish gaining huge popularity this year with nail junkies. This ‘velvet’ polish gives a velvety-looking shimmery texture and fuzzy finish – perfect for brides in lighter hues and pink shades. These manicures are created using shimmering, semi-metallic polishes which in the right light mimic the look of soft velvet.
