There’s nothing quite like catching the latest mega release on the big screen, surrounded by groups of teens chomping down on popcorn and slurping away on their extra large fizzy-pop through their (hopefully biodegradable) straws… And, 2020 is brimming with a whole lotta epic releases we’re super excited about! We’ve rounded up a few of our favourites to whet your appetite for what’s coming up in the new year…

Bird of Prey

Bird of Prey

We return to Gotham City, the city where we last saw the Joker unveil his clown mask and uncover his ‘human’ side, for a superhero journey with Harley Quinn. You know, the character every teenage girl has dressed up as at least one for Halloween. Since parting ways with the Joker, she joins Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya in hope of saving a little girl from the Black Mask (the new bad guy). Expect a whole lotta violence and badass fighting.

No Time to Die

No Time to Die

The name’s Bond. James Bond.

That’s right, you can expect another Bond movie making its way onto the big screen next year. Only this time, Bond has left active service… But that doesn’t mean anything because his peace is soon short-lived when an old friend comes running for help.

A Quiet Place 2

A Quiet Place 2

Think you could survive in a world where you’re hunted in you make the faintest sound? No, we don’t think we could either…

Written and directed by John Kransinski, A Quiet Place 2 follows on from where we left the Abbott family. The loving family is still on the run from the mysterious creatures that hunt by sound. Rather you than me, John Krasinski…

Mulan

Mulan

For us, Mulan is probably the most anticipated film of 2020. Who doesn’t love a female protagonist taking on the world? The release is in part of Walt Disney Picture’s attempt to recreate every Disney treasure into a live action movie. You guys probably already know the basic premise from the 1998 Disney original, but while we’re here, we’ll retell it for you quickly anyway. To save her father from serving in the Imperial Army, Mulan disguises herself as a man to battle the northern invaders in China.

Release Date: 27th March 2020, trailer this way…

Black Widow

Black Widow

Props goes to Marvel for the original title… Scarlett Johansson is set to star in Marvel’s Black Widow, a film which follows International spy and assassin Natasha Romanoff and her magnificent journey to becoming the superhero we’ve all grown to love.

Expected Release Date: 1st May 2020, trailer to follow

Wonder Woman 1984

Wonder Woman 1984

From one iconic superhero to the next, Wonder Woman returns for an epic sequel to the 2017 film Wonder Woman (again, props for the original name…) The plot details are a little thin on the ground as of yet but it’s said Wonder Woman will be battling against the Cheetah, a badass villainess who possesses a few superhuman abilities of her own…

Expected Release Date: 5th June 2020, trailer to follow

West Side Story

West Side Story

Forget the High School Musical remake, the only American romantic musical we want to watch this 2020 is Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story. It’s essentially an adaptation of the legendary Broadway musical under the same name, but with Spielberg involved, we’ve no doubt we won’t be falling head over heels for this teenage love story. Expect forbidden love and teenage rivalry.

Expected Release Date: 18th December 2020, trailer yet to be released
