The Handbook

Yes, they’re cheesy, predictable and perhaps adorn with one too many tourist, but there’s nothing quite like a trip to one of the world’s most romantic cities for a quick passionate getaway with your partner. Whether you fancy roaming the streets of Paris, catching the cherry blossom in Kyoto or a dip in the Croatian sea, here’s seven of the world’s most romantic cities:

Paris, France

Ooh la la, who doesn’t love a romantic trip away. If you’ve a phobia of flying, or just want to help do your bit for the environment, hop on the Eurostar to Paris for a quick romantic fling.

Known internationally as the ‘city of love’, when visiting Paris there’s no escaping its romance. Of course, it’s a rite of passage to encapsulate your inner tourist and stroll along the Champ de Mars, arm  in arm, before making your way up the iconic Eiffel Tower to see Paris’ rolling views sky-high. It’s hard to steer away from completely reenacting every Hollywood film set in the city, but if you can tear yourself away from the tourist traps, discover the covered passageways, like Passage Verdeau and Passage des Panoramas, and browse the antiques and Parisian secondhand bookshops. Enjoy a sail along the Seine at sunset, stroll along the Musée de la Vie Romantique, and there’s no getting away from trying a snail or two.

Another one for the history heads is a trip to the Borghese Gallery. Ponder around viewing works by the likes of Raphael, Bernini, Caravaggio and Canova. And, if you’re in it for the ‘gram, pack up a picnic, pop the Prosecco and reside next to the St. Angelo Bridge at sunset. You’ll be creating some serious #InstaGoals.

Firstly, there’s a whole plethora of super adorable multicoloured streets just awaiting your discovery and catching the cherry blossom on Kungsträdgården oozes romantic points.
