Here at The Handbook we aren’t going to tell you that to boost your health you need to down green shots and just work out more, although we’re fans of that too. Nope, rather we’ve got nine ways to boost your health this month which include yoga, relaxing, dancing and simply talking.
What: The Only Resolution We Want to Make
Why: Unless you’re talking about the festival at Juju, then we don’t want to hear about resolutions. Don’t be healthy because you want to be a new you, you’re great, do it because it makes you feel great and the Re:Solution festival is a month long festival of dance, yoga, workshops and fitness classes from the likes of Fat Buddha Yoga, Soul Sisters, Frankie Friday and Sanderson Jones. Start the year filled with endorphins, not failing at unnecessary resolutions.

Why: Rather than rushing back into the year with a hundred and one new things to do, ease your way back in and start the year calm and collected. As well as having lots of normal baths with plenty of bubble bath, you should also have a Sound Bath. Created by Sound Sebastien (Jasmine Hemsley and Toni Dicks) a Sound Bath is the ultimate relaxation, get cosy with blankets, silk eye masks filled with lavender, Tempur foam pillows and essential oils and then let the therapeutic tones of the Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls wash over you. Emerge from your meditative state, restored and calm. It’s time to turn up to turn off.

Why: It’s not easy being healthy when you go out to eat, we get that, luckily though Asia de Cuba has created a menu that won’t leave you feeling like you need to go on a cleanse the next day. Dishes include calamari ceviche with tomato confit and ginger chimichurri; red quinoa salad, steamed seabass and a Thai coconut and lemongrass flan.

Why: End the month with Dance Cardio at 100 Wardour St, as part of the D&D Mindful City campaign they’ve teamed up with Frame to bring some of their favourite classes to Soho. The class is a chance to let your hair down, dance away to the best 90s tunes and get a work out in, although we can guarantee you’ll be having so much fun you won’t even notice.

Mental Health Mates
What: A Chance to Talk
Why: Mental health is just as important as your physical health, your brain after all is an organ just like your kidneys and your heart and you wouldn’t ignore their health. Following on from her book, Mad Girl, journalist Bryony Gordon has created Mental Health Mates, a chance for people to come together, walk and talk about mental health issues without any fear of judgement. It’s good to keep talking.

Why: As part of Bluebird’s January campaign, Mindful City with D&D they have teamed up with Triyoga and Kiss the Moon to host a candlelit yoga session to give you the smoothest start to the week. Kiss the Moon will be filling the room with scented aromatherapy soy candles whilst you take part in the yoga (which is open to all levels) and then afterwards you’ll be able to have dinner in the restaurant. Say goodbye to miserable Mondays.
