Here at The Handbook we aren’t going to tell you that to boost your health you need to down green shots and just work out more, although we’re fans of that too. Nope, rather we’ve got nine ways to boost your health this month which include yoga, relaxing, dancing and simply talking.
What: The Only Resolution We Want to Make
Why: Unless you’re talking about the festival at Juju, then we don’t want to hear about resolutions. Don’t be healthy because you want to be a new you, you’re great, do it because it makes you feel great and the Re:Solution festival is a month long festival of dance, yoga, workshops and fitness classes from the likes of Fat Buddha Yoga, Soul Sisters, Frankie Friday and Sanderson Jones. Start the year filled with endorphins, not failing at unnecessary resolutions.
Where: Juju's Bar & Stage 15 Hanbury Street, E1 6QR
The Hard Yard at Pop Brixton
What: Try January
Why: Looking for a workout to get you out of that Stilton and mince pie coma? Let us introduce you to The Hard Yard, the fitness brand that trains and employs ex-offenders to deliver hard-hitting workouts without the gimmicks that will get you sweating, pumped and those endorphins flowing.
Every Tuesday, starting on the 9th January
Where: Pop Brixton, 49 Brixton Station Road, Brixton, SW9 8PQ
Wright Brothers Soho Oyster House
Oxford Circus (0.4 miles)
What: Detox Menu
Why: We get that you want to detox but that doesn’t mean that you have to live off just salad, that theory went out years ago. Instead fill your diet with nutrient-dense, superfoods and hearty dishes all of which you’ll find at Wright Brothers Soho, Spitalfields and Battersea, who have launched a detox menu. Dishes will include superfood dressed oysters, pomegranate, crispy spring onions; seared yellow fin tuna, Goan spiced lentils, Greek yoghurt and rocket salad and roasted mixed beets with Graceburn feta and candied walnuts. As the saying goes: delicious and nutritious.
Available at Wright Brothers Soho, Spitalfields and Battersea

The London Edition
Oxford Circus (0.4 miles)
What: Sound Bath
Why: Rather than rushing back into the year with a hundred and one new things to do, ease your way back in and start the year calm and collected. As well as having lots of normal baths with plenty of bubble bath, you should also have a Sound Bath. Created by Sound Sebastien (Jasmine Hemsley and Toni Dicks) a Sound Bath is the ultimate relaxation, get cosy with blankets, silk eye masks filled with lavender, Tempur foam pillows and essential oils and then let the therapeutic tones of the Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls wash over you. Emerge from your meditative state, restored and calm. It’s time to turn up to turn off.
