It started so well, this week, with clear blue skies and hot-hot-hot heat. But it’s increasingly looking like it’s going to trail off into a drizzle of grey and gloom. Nevertheless, a weekend’s a weekend so let’s make the most of it, and here are some suggestions to get you through.
Cheese Street Returns
Cheese Street N1, hosted at Islington Farmers Market in autumn, was such a success that it’s back, this time in the guise of Cheese Street NW5. Located on Hampstead Heath at Parliament Hill Farmers Market this celebration of all things pressed curds of milk. Aiming to support local and regional cheese makers and mongers (got to love a good monger) with the likes of Quickes Cheese, Cornish Gouda and Wildes Cheese all in attendance, to guarantee everyone enjoys a weekend full of Wensleydale. There will be tastings, butter making, plenty to buy and do, all of it cheese related.

Disco Fever in Brixton
Fans of Disco need to head down to Brixton this weekend for the Brixton Disco Festival. This extravaganza of boogie will see key Brixton sites like The Ritzy and Brixton Market transformed into a disco mecca. Roller disco in Windrush Square? Tick! Live acts and DJs at Electric Brixton? Tick! Can you dig it?

Billed as the ultimate festival for Prosecco lovers, Prosecco Springs comes to East London’s Oval Space on today and will be with a weekend of wall-to-wall Prosecco. Expect master classes, DJs and live music, authentic Italian food (of course), and, best of all, tastings! There will also be two Aperol Spritz bars, thanks to the event’s sponsor Aperol, who had such a hit with their Aperol Spritz Terrace Bar last year, offering their guests the chance to sip their spritzes and sundowners in the sunshine that they’ve returned to their terrace position with their iconic orange bar, and will additionally be taking up residence in the new outdoor Prosecco Park.

Let's Go On A Picnic
When you’re located a stone’s throw from Hyde Park it’s only right that you’d be experts in the art of picnicking. So obviously The Arch London, the five-star hotel, have a perfect hamper. Offering a taste of restaurant Hunter 486 critically acclaimed Best of British inspired menu. The picnic hamper includes a chilled bottle of sparkling wine and gourmet delights including Homemade crisps with sea salt, lemon and sage; a selection of sandwiches including English Cheddar with apple and raisin chutney with sun blushed tomato salad; Coronation chicken with baby gem, and coriander cress salad; Smoked salmon with lemon butter and cracked black pepper on brown bread; Jersey Royal potato salad with apple and mustard dressing; Raspberry and pistachio trifle; Battenburg; and Homemade muffins. 34 Mayfair have a new brunch on! The offering from Chef Harvey Ayliffe is modern with international influences, largely based around the bespoke Argentine parilla grill. Noteworthy elements include café latte milkshake, Japanese Wagyu croquettes with wasabi mayo or try the corn tacos with stone bass ceviche, apple and avocado. Also watch out for the smoked short rib hash with Houses of Parliament sauce, the waffles with foie gras and duck egg and Seville orange marmalade.

Narcos Meets Alcohol
If you’re a fan of Narcos then head down to Canek Bar in Putney. The bijou bar packs a big punch with their Colombian cartel themed cocktail menu. Fans of the hit Netflix series will love this, all themed around drugs and the cartels. Don a SWAT bulletproof vest and receive instructions by the cocktail ‘drug’ lord himself, owner Hector Herdandez, the mastermind behind ‘El Cartel.’ Full write up to follow, but if you’re at a loose end this weekend, check it out.

Because We're Not Just For The Weekend
Palatino, Stevie Parle’s excellent Roman restaurant, have teamed up with Italian wine producer Felsina Berardenga for a special wine dinner on Wednesday 2nd May. Okay, so definitely not a weekend activity, but you need something to look forward to once you’re back at your desk on Monday, and the weekend will be soooo far. The four wines, served alongside a stunning Tuscan menu from Richard Blackwell, will compliment the wines, providing a special ‘Palatino’ take on some true Tuscan classics.
