Live For The Weekend: Things To Do 17th-19th August
As I write it’s just started to rain, which bodes not too well for the weekend. But let’s not focus on that and instead cast our minds forward a day or two to the weekend (forecast as ‘sunny intervals and a gentle breeze’) when we can be indulging in jazz, cider or a margarita masterclass.
Strongbow Dark Fruit
Your Mum'll Be Thrilled
If you drink enough Strongbow then this is exactly the sort of thing you might think is a good idea: a free tattoo. Of Strongbow. Make a lifetime decision you 100% won’t regret this weekend by heading to Dark Fruit Ink on Curtain Road, created to celebrate Strongbow’s Dark Fruit cider. Enjoy a can of Dark Fruit cider while tattooist Alice Perrin inks you up with a one of a range of specially designed tattoos. Or if you want to test things out first, see how they go, then you can also just get a temporary tattoo.
Friday 17th – Saturday 18th August
Where: Dark Fruit Ink. Studio, The Parlour, 96 Curtain Road, Shoreditch, EC2A 3AA

March For Margarita
Get ready for a Margarita bar crawl! We’re guessing it’s the cocktail and not the bland pizza that will be celebrated on Saturday as a procession of Margarita lovers head from bar to bar stocking up on glasses of the old Cuervo Margarita. Following on the success of the Margarita Rumble the other month the event will see guests march through the streets on the trail of cocktails all made with Jose Cuervo Tradicional 100% blue agave tequila. Top this off with a masterclass under the tutelage of Jose Cuervo’s tequila expert.

Murano's Birthday Bash
Happy 10th birthday Murano! The restaurant by star chef Angela Hartnett will be opening its doors one Sunday a month, starting this Sunday, to serve a menu devised by head chef Oscar Holgado. The generous feasting menu is designed to be shared by family and friends and offers a departure from the day-to-day restaurant menu. Other celebrations include a guest series, cranking up this autumn with the likes of Marcus Wareing, Jason Atherton and Paul Ainsworth. Murano will also be serving a limited edition celebratory birthday menu made up of some of Angela and the team’s favourite dishes from the last decade.

Greenwich Peninsula
On a blue note, why not head to Greenwich Peninsula for their Summer Jazz Weekend? The free event is hosted by Harry Christelis and is welcome to jazz nuts and normal people alike. The lineup includes jazz guitarist Rob Luft, Waaju and Ben Brown with their African/South America vibes, saxophonist and clarinetist Sam Rapley plus many more. It’s the synco-place to be (the pun sort of works).
