Wow this week has totally dragged, am I right? So you’re probably as ready for the weekend as I am right now. Thankfully the weather’s going to still be a thing and there’s plenty out there to do. Here are some ideas to get you going…
Nobu Hotel Shoreditch

Why: The Nobu magic is very much in action over at Nobu Shoreditch. For August only they’ve teamed up with Champagne experts Veuve Clicquot to create a brunch to remember. To celebrate Veuve Clicquot Rosé Champagne the limited and exclusive edition of Nobu’s unlimited weekend brunch offering bottomless Rosé Champagne alongside a specially devised menu for the month. The meal will showcase some of Nobu’s signatures, but will also pull some unique dishes out of their bag.

What: To Me, To You, To Barry's
Why: We may have lost one Barry this week (farewell Mr Chuckle) but here’s another Barry, just in time to cheer you up again for the weekend, welcome to Barry’s Bootcamp. This weekend the bootcamp have partnered with mental health charity HUMEN for a one-off event raising awareness of the benefits of physical fitness on mental health. Exercise alongside, and hear the stories of, Ryan Kohn, co-founder of Propercorn, David Abrahamovitch founder of The Grind and Barry’s Bootcamp Co-founder, Sandy Macaskill who will all be sharing their experience of what it means to be a man, the need to be ‘more human’ and inspiring others to be the same ‘more human’ too. Why: At Callooh Callay say hey, to the ‘Peat & Love’ festival! A collab with Scottish Whiskey makers Ardbeg who will be transforming Callooh Callay’s Jubjub bar into something a little more bohemian with a month-long festival of events starting this Friday. Join Ardbeg’s Karen Fullerton, former editor of The Spirits Business’s Becky Paskin and Katy Davies , the General Manager of Maggie’s Bar on Friday evening discussing their experiences of rising to the top of an industry perceived to be dominated by men. Then on Sunday The Jubjub will play host to Berlin cocktail bar Stagger Lee, which will bring five of their cocktails over and put them head-to-head with five from the Callooh Callay team.

Why: I once ate some oysters that made me feel decidedly high, but at Oblix East all the seafood is pristine and given you’re up The Shard, you’re already pretty high (that was a painful joke, I apologise). From this weekend and ‘available only on the first four weekends of August’ (so each weekend of August) Oblix East’s Executive Chef Marcus Eaves has created a range of seafood dishes across a three course summer feast including porthilly oysters, lobster cocktail, marinated queen scallops, razor clams, dressed portland crab and plenty more.

Walter and Monty
Why: Beneath the architectural phallus that is The Gherkin lies Walter and Monty, BBQists and street food specialists. And now they’re expanding their speciality from not only bossing luncheon, but also dominating evenings. From tomorrow evening the restaurant will be open on Fridays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Taking inspiration from Spanish culture and travel expect a menu of sticks and plates, cooked to order on their custom-made grill and best enjoyed with a W&M Old Fashioned!

Comida Fest by Tower Bridge
Why: Unless we’re talking about Brexit, 18,000 can’t be wrong, and that’s how many attendees Latin American festival Comida Fest already, the carnival atmosphere continues this weekend as their biggest festival yet arrives at Potters Fields Park at Tower Bridge. In their last event of the summer season they’ll be joined by over 30 food, drink, craft and produce traders, great for browsing and munching as you go. As well as food there’ll be a full cultural programme of music and fun activities suitable for both grownups and children.

Why: If you basically live for free beards, then get yourself down to Clapham Grand this Friday for The Greatest Showman Sing-a-long – they’re giving them away to all comers.
