What to do This Weekend: 1st – 3rd December
Now it seems that the countdown to the weekend is running alongside the countdown to Christmas, 1 day and 25 respectively! Which also means that our weekend ideas are getting increasingly Christmas-led, great news if you’re as excited as we are about Christmas, but if you’re bored of the whole thing don’t worry, there’s bottomless brunches and burgers on offer here to go with your bah humbugs! Two of the best things in life, Bollywood and brunch, are combining at Mint Leaf with their final Bollywood brunch of the year this Saturday. Food, entertainment and cocktails come together with spicy food Desi and Bhangra beats and cocktails including bottomless “Sex on the Goa”, and with the live DJ on hand entertainment in the form of Bhangra inspired lip sync battles and dance offs.

Why not go Christmas market shopping in Battersea Park? The Pear Tree Christmas Market is a lovely place to go and browse through 30 stalls selling artisan food and drink and handmade luxury gifts. Of course there’ll be carol singers, plus a personalised hamper service over the weekend. The barbecue will be lit from midday serving pig in blanket hotdogs with prunes, pancetta and balsamic onion and brussel sprouts and chestnut skewers with date syrup.

There’s a new bit of London, Greenwich Peninsula, and it’s set to host what it’s billing as ‘London’s most creative festive experience’, SAMPLE. The festive edition of SAMPLE will be packed with fashion, food and foliage, providing Londoners the opportunity to shop, eat, drink and celebrate while sampling the best produce from a collective of London’s most renowned and emerging creatives. This weekend they will be adding a late-night food and drink market accompanied by live music, performances and DJ sets.

Regent Street Customise Your Christmas Studio
Regent Street are putting on their ‘Customise your Christmas’ studio with a ‘Scandinavian Narnia’ escape for shoppers at 70 Mortimer Street including a complimentary gift wrapping service on all shopping by professional gift wrappers (yes, that’s a thing), a calligrapher will be on hand to sort your Christmas labels and there will be refreshments and a relaxation area available too. What’s more there’s a ‘Letters to Santa’ area for your epistle to St Nicholas and a letter box which will apparently send your missivestraight to Lapland (presumably once there it’ll be redirected to The North Pole, where Father Christmas actually lives). And don’t worry, there’s things for Children too, with biscuit painting and a short workshop in biscuit decorating.

Those crafty guys over at Battersea Arts Centre are putting on a special Christmas craft fair. Wander along and choose creations from a range of independent designers, makers and artisans who will be touting their hand crafted gifts and baked goods. A gingerbread man decoration workshop, Father Christmas’s Grotto, Merry Reggae BBQ and live music will all combine to make this a fun and craft-filled event.

Cinnamon Bazaar's Secret Pop-Up
Intimacy is key at Cinnamon Bazaar’s new pop-up, hidden away up a narrow staircase that leads to the top floor, Bhendi Bazaar takes bookings for just 8-12 people at a time. Antique day beds, low tables and pink drapes complete the relaxed feel as renowned chef, Vivek Singh, takes diners on a culinary adventure with his specially created eight-course feast. Dishes include Bengali-style holiday lamb curry and Punjabi chicken butter masal with an exclusively vegetarian thali feast available serving vibrant dishes like Jaipur okra curry, Punjabi vegetable samosa and Mughlai mushroom curry. Co-collaborators The East India Gin Company and Franklin & Sons Tonics and Mixers will be handling the drinks side including creating three bespoke cocktails.
