The Handbook

The first week of October: it’s officially Autumn, it’s officially cold and it’s officially London Cocktail Week. Friday will see the launch of the Jubilee Line Night Tube so late night partying is a must. Taking place throughout the city you practically have to just shut your eyes and you can hear that familiar sound of a cocktail shaker and a drink being expertly poured. If you haven’t been to a Cocktail Week event yet you still have time but it’s only on until Sunday so don’t hang about. Elsewhere, this weekend sees a Greek Wine Festival, the BFI London Film Festival and a celebration of Indian food and culture. There’s lots to do so browse our pick of the 8 top events this weekend and get planning…

10p Coffee... With Gunpowder in it

Seven Dials coffee shop, TimberYard, is bringing back a taste of the 1960s on Friday by selling coffee for the measly (but amazing) price of 10p. It’s all to celebrate the launch of new PlayStation 4 and Xbox game, Mafia III, which is set in 1968 and will go on sale on Friday. Bompas & Parr are getting in on the action with a Mafia III-inspired gunpowder ingredient which will be served in empty bullet cartridges. Those in need of an extra ‘shot’ can add the powder to their coffee and watch as the reaction takes place. Can’t make it to TimberYard? Don’t worry, you’ve got a weekend of gaming ahead of you.
Friday, 8am-7pm. 10p coffee is for a black Americano, subject to availability. Tweet #Mafia3 and #10pCoffee to qualify

We’ve seen naked rooftops, naked bike rides and, this Friday, The Takeover Bar and Club in Soho is telling guests to Get Naked with London’s most provocative club night. Tasteful exposure is encouraged and guests who slip off their clothes will be rewarded with a bottle of bubbles for their bravery and the chance to have their body painted. Naked models will pass shots around whilst hula hoopers and live musicians entertain the crowd. You may even see a celeb or two – that’s definitely more than you bargained for.

The London Greek Wine Festival

Loads of Greek Wine

Greece may not be the first country that springs to mind when discussing wine, but The Greek Larder is going to change that. The Greek Wine Festival returns for its second year, curated by The Greek Larder founder Theodore Kyriakou and hosted by TV wine expert Olly Smith. The Festival will venture on an in-depth exploration into the numerous aspects of Greek wine with a showcase of around 150 labels. The weekend will be filled out with fabulous food, music and dance, all inspired by the island, of course.
