What To Do This Weekend: 15th – 17th April
We’ve seen more than a few glimmers of Spring this week but when looking at the weather forecast is about as reliable as trains at rush hour, planning your weekend requires a little more thought and maybe a few indoor activities to fall back on – cocktails, we’re looking at you. Here is our round up of the best London has to offer this weekend, from a speakeasy relaunch to brand new farmers market, we have you covered.
The Arts Theatre Club
Relaunch of Soho Speakeasy
If you haven’t previously stumbled across the neon lit doorway of The Arts Theatre Club, now is a good time to hunt it down. It reopened this week after a refurb, the basement space is moody and intimate with dark red velvet booths, candles and a vintage piano that doubles up as a DJ booth. Cocktails are Victorian-inspired and come served in teapots if you fancy sharing with your date. A 3am drinks license makes it a great late-night pitstop, with non-members welcome from 5.30pm – 11pm.

High Road Market
New Artisan Food Market
If a food market is on the to-do list this weekend then ditch Borough, forget the Southbank and try Chiswick’s latest offering. High Road Market launches this Saturday (16th) in the playground of Belmont Primary School. Expect yummy mummies galore and plentiful Instagram opportunities of artisan coffee, cakes, bread and craft beer as well as everything you’ll need for Saturday’s dinner party – fish and meat included. Thai street food from Farang will be making an appearance, as will Bocaface Spanish street food, fuelling your morning with their chorizo and egg breakfast bap.

Lyan Cellars
Last chance to try wine-that's-not-really-wine
You may have read about the ‘wines… sort of’ pop-up but if you haven’t yet been, the countdown is on – Lyan Cellars ends on Sunday. The award-winning bartender from White Lyan and Dandelyan bar set himself the challenge of reinventing wine and the result? The red is made from oaked cherry, spring grapes, lapsang and sage and the white from apple flower, rhubarb tea and poached apricots, with the base ingredients fermented to make them alcoholic. In-keeping with the non-wines, bar snacks are not bar snacks at all. Only in Shoreditch… And only till Sunday.

José Pizarro Broadgate Circle
Sidreria menu
You know what the perfect drink for a sunny Saturday afternoon is? Cider. Lucky then that José Pizarro is launching his sidreria menu this weekend at José Pizarro Broadgate Circle to tie in with the launch of his new book, Basque. What’s the connection you ask? Well in Basque, cider house restaurants used to be everywhere – rather like pintxos they’d serve food to stop the drinkers getting too drunk. Available every Saturday, the menu will include salt cod tortilla, grilled T-bone with green salad, Idiazabal cheese with membrillo and walnuts and chocolate pot with Tejasde Tolosa. And, of course, a bottle of cider!

The Lodge
Final Fondue
We told you all about The Lodge in Clapham – the winter pop-up by Jimmy Garcia – but now they are into their final couple of weeks as the countdown begins. So if you want to indulge in fondue, beef fillet, cured meats, guinea fowl burgers, banana coffee mille-feuille and bottomless bellinis or Bloody Marys then you’ll need to book a table – quick. All is not lost if you don’t make it down as they’ll be back in May with a BBQ in an enchanted garden. You will have missed the fondue though.
