What To Do This Weekend: 24th-26th February

23rd February 2017 | By Emily Gray

Oh weekend, we’ve been waiting for you and now you’re finally within our reaches. This time tomorrow it’ll be Friday and we’ll all be on full weekend mode, but for today let us just get you in the mood with these top plans. From new brunches and afternoon teas to rooftop pop-ups and story telling…

Town House Restaurant & K Bar

Limited Edition Hollywood Menu

It’s Oscars weekend and once again we’re still waiting for our invitation. As we come round to the idea, that once again we will not be going, we’ll console ourselves at the K Bar, because they’ve created a menu inspired by this year’s top films. Cocktails include the likes of Hell or Hard Water made with rye whiskey, chilli liqueur, lime juice, honey and ginger ale and the Moonlight Martinez made from gin, white vermouth, violette, maraschino and orange bitters, whilst to eat there is the La La Lamb and Rock Shrimp Pop Corn.
Friday 24th – Sunday 26th February from 4pm

This weekend sees the launch of Diana: Her Fashion Story at Kensington Palace, a curation of iconic looks from her life in the limelight. Catch a glimpse of the velvet gown that the Princess was wearing when she danced the night away with John Travolta in the White House, and keep an eye out for upcoming events including brunchtime lectures, exhibition lates and a specially designed white garden in the grounds of the palace.

Bongo's Bingo

The Best Night of Bingo You'll Ever Have

Forget any preconceived ideas of bingo that you might have, because if you think it’s for the older generation or it’s a dull then you clearly haven’t been to Bongo’s Bingo. Having taken the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester by storm with tickets selling out at top speed, it’s finally launching in London. Expect a night of dancing on the tables, rave intervals, letting loose, escapism and prizes ranging from Henry Hoovers to cash – we’ve previously been in Liverpool and loved it.  As expected, tickets have sold out, but join the waiting list now or keep your eyes peeled for the next event in March.

Hilton Park Lane fashionista tea

London Hilton on Park Lane

Fashionista Afternoon Tea

The city is still recovering from fashion week and we have the perfect solution – it’s out with the salad boxes, in with the scones as this is your last chance to indulge in London Hilton on Park Lane’s fashionista afternoon tea. The cakes are inspired by designers Mary Kantranzou, Lucy Choi and Florian so are suitably chic; think a little red dress shortbread biscuit and handbag-shaped strawberry and pistachio tarts.

This time around, Smokestak’s David Carter will be in charge of the slow-cooked and smoked pork belly; Barrafina’s Nieves Barragan will spice things up with his mojo rojo sauce, and Tom Aikens (Tom’s Kitchen) will take control of the pickles. Pitfield

Pitfield London x CuePoint

Meaty Pop-Up

Our love of BBQ food is showing no signs of slowing down – it’s a major foodie trend for 2017. This weekend, a mightily meaty pop-up is coming to Shoreditch’s Pitfield London. Teaming up with BBQ smokers, CuePoint, a 3-course feast will include popped pork quavers, smoked beef brisket and smoked glazed fruit skewers – nothing escapes the smoker – with background music from resident DJ Matteo Morotti.
Friday 24th– Saturday 25th February, 7-11pm

Where: Pitfield London, 31-35 Pitfield Street, Shoreditch, N1 6HB

Silver Screen tea

The Savoy

Oscar-Inspired Afternoon Tea

Awards season is nearly over – and it’s time for the big one. This Sunday the Oscars are taking place and the question on everybody’s lips is not La La Land or Moonlight, it’s macaroon or chocolate sponge… The Savoy’s Silver Screen afternoon tea is available until Sunday and sees the nominated movies in dainty edible form – think Jackie as pink macaroons and Moonlight as a twist on the traditional Opera cake. They’re all winners here.

Available until the end of February

Where: The Savoy, Strand, London, United Kingdom

Craft Beer Rising

Craft Beer Festival

Craft beer, music, street food. What more could you want for a great weekend? Craft Beer Rising is taking over The Old Truman Brewery this weekend with a whole host of exhibitors including Bedlam Brewery, Wild Card Brewery and Meantime Brewing Company. You’ll be wanting food to soak up the hops, so good job Crabbie Shack, Mypie and Le Bao are coming to the rescue.

Selfridges

Getting WastED

This weekend sees the launch of WastED, Selfridges’ new pop-up.  They are teaming up with the trio behind critically-acclaimed New York restaurant Blue Hill to bring their innovative food waste pop-up to Selfridges’ rooftop restaurant. Creating menus from things like cabbage cores, cover crop sprouts and waste-fed pigs, the new dishes will see contributions from big names like Iain Griffiths of Mr Lyan as well as a partnership with Sonos and Spotify. Alongside a main a la carte lunch and dinner menu of small plates, a ‘not so customary’ afternoon tea will be served Tuesday to Friday.
Launches Friday 24th February
