The scariest day of the year, (no we’re not talking Brexit, although that does coincidentally fall on the same day) Halloween, is approaching faster than a 28 Days Later zombie. Not set on your costume yet? Even if you’re not one to go head to toe gruesome, there are plenty of places in London to get your hair and makeup done. Whether you’re after gory faux gashes, back-combed hair that will give Beetlejuice a run for his money, or you’re simply after a glam smoky eye, here are our top picks to get you ready and looking your best – or worst.

Duck and Dry

One of the best blow-dries in the business, Duck & Dry are turning their usual glam services into something more ghoulish this October. For £10 you can bring your own accessories into the salon and the Duck & Dry team will add them into a spooktacular hairstyle. Not sure what you’re after? Ask for the ‘Braizen Braid’ and bring gothic jewels or a Mexican-inspired flower crown for them to work with. They’ve also teamed up with London Dungeon and on the evening of the 22nd October their Mayfair salon will be haunted by some of the Dungeon’s escapees including The Torturer, Landlady and Plague Doctor. Eek!

Services start from £30 plus £10 for Halloween hair.

Download the app and choose your location to book.

Aer Blowdry Bar

Favoured by many a beauty editor for glossy blow-dries, Aer is your go-to if you’re after something that errs more on the side of fashion than Freddie Krueger. Choose from whimsical braided crowns to fierce high ponytails à la Harley Quinn. Their experts also offer makeup and nails if you want a top to toe service.
