hotels for valentine's day

Nothing says romance like a night away at a luxury hotel. And with plush suites, classy cocktail bars, and mesmerising views of the capital – London’s hotels are some of the most romantic staycation spots in the world.

Whether it’s Valentine’s Day, a romantic weekend getaway, or a surprise trip just because, whisk your loved one away to these 28 London hotels for Valentine’s Day and earn some serious brownie points. (Basically, this article is one huge hint to anyone whose other half works at The Handbook… especially if that other half is me).

The Most Romantic Hotels In London

The Lost Poet

In the beating heart of Notting Hill, this luxury boutique hotel rests at one of London’s most exclusive and sought-after addresses. With the romantic, treasure-filled Portobello Road right on your doorstep, not only will your location be unique and picture-perfect, but the hotel’s interiors are really something special too. Inside, you’ll find a mix of old and new, from modern art and bold wallpapers to reclaimed wood panelling and antique trinkets that take inspiration from the market outside.

Our favourite room? The Muse. A two-level suite with its own private roof terrace, sun room and freestanding bath. Unique, romantic and full of character, it’s pure staycation goals.

Where: 6 Portobello Road, W11 3DG London

London Marriott Hotel County Hall

Perfectly positioned in the heart of London, London Marriott Hotel County Hall is a firm staycation favourite of ours because of its stunning river views of the city’s finest landmarks like the London Eye, Big Ben and Houses of Parliament. Book in for their ‘Romance Package’ and receive a host of incredible experiences for your romantic getaway – like a Balcony Suite, a bottle of sparkling wine, chocolates, and preferential booking for a romantic candlelit dinner at Gillray’s Steakhouse with a view. With stunning views of the river, it’s the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city outside.

Where: London County Hall, Westminster Bridge Road, London SE1 7PB

Pan Pacific London

One of London’s latest luxury hotels for Valentine’s Day, Pan Pacific London is ideal if you’re looking for a romantic wellbeing haven right in the centre of London. Why? Well, with an 18.5m infinity pool, an array of spa treatments, mindful singing bowl meditation, detox and exfoliate massages, a sleep programme, steam rooms, saunas and a gym, who wouldn’t leave feeling their wellbeing has been given a lift?

For a Valentine’s Day hotel deal to die for, book the ‘Suite Celebration’ package, including a chilled bottle of English Sparkling Wine and signature patisserie on arrival, a delicious breakfast at Straits Kitchen, and £200 hotel credit redeemable at any of Pan Pacific London’s show-stopping restaurants, bars or spa. Take your pick from a candle-lit dinner, tantalising cocktails or even an indulgent couple’s spa treatment. Absolute bliss.

Home House

Is there anything more romantic than a staycation that transports you to another time and place? Home House is one of London’s most iconic private members’ clubs based in a beautiful historic Georgian townhouse in Marylebone that’s sure to enchant your loved one.

After making your way through their two restaurants, five bars, opulent dining rooms and health spa (or taking part in their busy events calendar – drag bingo, anyone?), head back to one of their luxurious rooms where you’ll be greeted by the likes of silk wallpaper, shimmering gold ceilings, and even the very same red marble used in the floor of the dome of St. Paul’s Cathedral (yes, the St. Paul’s!). This is the highest form of luxury, but the friendly staff and social atmosphere will make you and your loved one feel right at home.

Where: 20 Portman Square, London, W1H 6LW

Andaz London Liverpool Street

In the heart of East London, where the city’s iconic landmarks meet vibrant Shoreditch, lies five-star Andaz London Liverpool Street – the perfect base to explore London with your loved one.

The hotel boasts five restaurants and bars, each with their own distinctive character and feel, and an on-site health club, steam room and in-room spa facilities so you and your other half can relax and recharge together. For the ultimate stay, we recommend tick off renowned tourist spots like London Bridge, The Shard and Tate Modern, and exploring hidden gems in artsy Shoreditch, before retreating to the hotel for a luxurious night of comfort together, including an evening meal and cocktails in Rake’s Parlour.

Tempted? Who wouldn’t be?!

Home to soaring views over the Thames, couples can check into one of the hotel’s suites and find a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, an agua Spa ‘Love potion’ made with tuberose and other magical ingredients, and full English breakfast the next day.

There’s no need to leave the hotel as their onsite restaurant has plenty of delicious options as part of their Valentine’s set menu, and the in-house Curzon cinema is showing an intimate screening of The Notebook.

One of the best hotels for Valentine’s Day, steps away from the Thames.
