Think barefoot luxury, olive-tree-lined pools, a dreamy L’Occitane spa and some of the best Greek food I’ve ever tasted. Theros All Suite Hotel is the adults-only Kos escape that makes you want to do absolutely nothing, and I mean that in the best possible way.

What sets it apart

Theros All Suite Hotel, tucked away on the Greek island of Kos, is something special. From its tonal, design-led interiors and olive-tree-framed pools to its exceptional food and seriously impressive wellness offering, every corner feels calming and seriously chic. But what makes Theros so special isn’t just its aesthetic appeal; it’s the warmth that runs through every part of the experience. Family-run and rooted in the Greek philosophy of philoxenia, the art of welcoming and caring for guests, this is a hotel that feels less like a resort and more like being welcomed into someone’s beautiful Mediterranean home. I came away feeling thoroughly relaxed, very well fed and already planning my return. Here’s everything you need to know about staying at Theros All Suite Hotel.

If, like me, you have a Pinterest board dedicated to your dream Mediterranean escape, Theros will feel as though it has been lifted straight from it. The design is contemporary Greek living at its finest, with a palette of warm neutrals, natural stone, beautiful wood detailing and minimal accents that make every space feel elevated.

Daisie, Beauty Contributor

The hotel is owned and run by the Mastrominas family, and designed by the family’s award-winning architect father. The welcome as soon as you arrive is warm, the staff are genuinely friendly, and there’s a lovely sense that you’re being invited into their home rather than simply checking into a hotel. That personal touch carries throughout the hotel, giving it a character that goes beyond its beautiful interiors.

Outside, the grounds are just as impressive. Designed to celebrate the natural beauty of Kos, the hotel is framed by stone walls, greenery and two gorgeous swimming pools surrounded by cypress, olive and lemon trees. One of my favourite details is the olive trees dotted around the grounds, which the family’s mother grew on their own land before planting them here at Theros. It’s such a beautiful, personal touch that brings an authentic piece of Greece into the hotel’s design. Honestly, the grounds are so beautiful and feel so secluded, that you could quite happily spend your entire holiday here without feeling the need to venture anywhere else.

The rooms

The clue is in the name: Theros is an all-suite hotel, and the rooms are every bit as beautiful as the rest of the property. All 88 suites have private outdoor space, with selected suites offering hot tubs, private pools and olive trees of their own.

I stayed in a suite that opened directly onto one of the smaller pools shared between the villas, and it was such a dream. Having your own quieter corner of the hotel, with private sun loungers just outside your bedroom and the pool only steps away, makes the whole experience feel so tranquil. It’s ideal if you want to spend the day dipping in and out of the water, reading in the sunshine and enjoying a little more privacy away from the main pool.

Inside, the aesthetic continues with natural textures, a natural colour palette and a real sense of considered luxury. Even the smaller details feel special, from the linen-style robe to the cute flip-flop-style slippers. And, of course, the bathrooms are stocked with L’Occitane products, which make getting ready for the day, or winding down after it, feel like its own little pampering ritual.

The facilities

I never thought I’d describe a hotel gym as one of its standout features, but here we are. Theros has quite possibly the chicest gym I’ve ever walked into, with a sleek, contemporary design that makes working out feel far more appealing than it normally does on holiday.

It’s fully equipped, and one of the standout features is a machine with a built-in exercise programme that guides you through different workouts. Whether you’re keen to keep up your routine while away or simply fancy fitting in a session before breakfast, it’s a great addition to the hotel’s wellness offering.

The gym also overlooks the Bostani, the hotel’s flourishing vegetable garden, which is a rather lovely view to have while working up a sweat. There’s outdoor equipment and a boxing bag, too, so you have options if you prefer to exercise in the fresh air. Theros even offer a service where you can book a personal trainer to guide you through your boxing workout.

If there’s one place at Theros that deserves a little extra time in your itinerary, it’s Ef-Zin. This is the home to the first L’Occitane spa in Greece, and as someone who already loves the brand, I was very excited to experience it. Ef-Zin takes its name from the ancient Greek concept of living well, and the philosophy feels fitting from the moment you step inside. The atmosphere is serene, the surroundings are beautiful, and there’s an immediate sense of calm that encourages you to slow down and properly switch off. It feels less like simply booking a treatment and more like stepping into an entire wellness ritual.

I was lucky enough to enjoy a massage using L’Occitane’s dreamy products, and it was every bit as indulgent as I’d hoped. Beyond the treatment rooms, there’s a hammam, sauna and a beautiful relaxation room where you can take your time before or after a treatment. If your idea of a holiday is returning home feeling genuinely rested rather than needing another break to recover from it, this is the place to do it.

Food & drink

One thing I always look for when reviewing a hotel is whether the food is memorable enough to rival the setting. At Theros, it absolutely is. The dining offering celebrates Greek cooking, seasonal produce and the pleasure of sharing good food, with different restaurants and experiences to suit everything from a relaxed poolside lunch to a more dressed-up evening.

Mornings at Theros begin with a seriously good breakfast buffet, with a generous spread to choose from alongside an à la carte menu featuring Greek breakfast classics. Parea, whose name translates to a group of friends, is the hotel’s relaxed all-day dining spot overlooking one of the pools. It’s the perfect setting for a leisurely lunch, and if you order one thing, make it the pork gyros. I can confidently say they were the best gyros I’ve ever had.

Parea also hosts the hotel’s barbecue evenings, which are a dream for anyone who loves a good feast. Expect an impressive spread of charred meats, fresh breads, salads and dips. It’s relaxed and perfectly suited to a long evening spent eating and chatting.

My favourite dining experience at Theros, however, was the award-winning restaurant MAZI Mas. This is the spot for a more dressed-up evening, with a buzzy atmosphere and beautiful views across the scenic pool. I’d recommend arriving a little earlier for drinks on the patio, allowing yourself time to soak up the setting before settling in for dinner.

The menu takes Greek classics and gives them a little twist, with a focus on seasonal ingredients and local produce. The menu celebrates the flavours of the island while bringing something a little more decadent to the table. The moussaka was a particular standout for me. It felt like a beautiful interpretation of a much-loved Greek classic, with local spices and kefalotyri cheese. A trumpet player wandered around the restaurant as we ate and drank, adding such a lovely atmosphere to the evening.

I tried the cheesecake and tiramisu flavours, and wow, both were exceptional. If you have room for dessert, do not skip it.

One of the loveliest details about Theros is that its approach to food starts long before anything reaches the kitchen. Within the grounds is the family’s Bostani, a flourishing vegetable garden where fruit, vegetables and herbs are grown on site, with some of the produce making its way into the hotel’s menus.

It adds another layer to the experience, connecting the food to the land and the family behind the hotel. And it’s these little details that make the dining offering feel authentic rather than simply designed to impress. In summer, you’ll be served little touches such as fresh watermelon around the pool as you bask in the sunshine.

Things to do

One of the things I loved most about Theros is that you can make your stay as active or as slow-paced as you like. There’s plenty to enjoy within the hotel itself, but its location also makes it easy to explore a little of Kos when you fancy a change of scenery.

If you’re looking to start the day feeling zen, make time for one of the hotel’s daily yoga classes. Held on a shaded rooftop overlooking the island’s lush greenery, the setting is incredibly peaceful, with views across trees and plants that make it easy to forget about the outside world for a while. It’s a lovely way to ease into the day before breakfast, and fits perfectly with the hotel’s wider approach to wellbeing. The rooftop also hosts open-air movie nights, offering a completely different way to enjoy the space once the sun goes down.

Despite feeling like a secluded hideaway, Theros is perfectly placed for getting out and about. The beach is just across the road, giving you easy access to the sea, with views across the water towards the town and even Turkey on the horizon.

Kos Town is also within easy walking distance, making it ideal for a little afternoon exploring. Think quaint shops, restaurants, fro-yo stops and a beautiful harbour to wander around. You can spend the day lounging by the pool, head out for a stroll into the town, then return to Theros for dinner and a cocktail. It really is the best of both worlds.

My favourite activity of the entire stay was the wine-tasting experience, and I’d recommend booking it if you visit.

Held upstairs in a space that feels more like a cosy living room than a formal tasting room, it’s an intimate, sociable experience that invites you to slow down and discover a little more about Greek wine.

I didn’t manage to fit in everything during my stay, which is always a good sign that there’s a reason to return. One experience still on my list is horse riding, which the hotel can organise for you. It sounds like such a special way to explore a different side of Kos, and it’s firmly on my itinerary for next time. I’m already imagining a return visit in the height of summer, with even more time to enjoy the sunshine, the sea and everything Theros has to offer.

The verdict

Theros All Suite Hotel is one of those places that manages to be beautiful without ever feeling pretentious. Yes, the interiors are dreamy, the grounds are breathtaking and the spa is a serious treat, but it’s the people and the feeling of the place that make it so memorable. There’s a warmth to the service that runs through the entire experience, and nothing ever feels like too much trouble. You can spend your days moving between the pool, the beach, the spa and the restaurants, or simply stay put and enjoy the peaceful little world the family has created. Either way, you leave feeling as though you’ve genuinely switched off.

For me, Theros strikes that perfect balance between a wellness retreat and a beach escape. It’s tranquil, indulgent and perfectly homely, with enough to do if you want to fill your days but absolutely no pressure to do anything at all. I left already promising myself I’d return in high summer.
