The return to ‘90s minimalism is strong and there’s no better way to embrace the trend than slipping into the much-loved slinky skirt of the decade. It was a summer favourite, but now our favourite influencers are showing us how to take it into the colder months. Planning on wearing one over the next few days? These are the best things to do this weekend, from brunches to exhibitions.

Throughout those warm balmy days we saw numerous stylish folk working the satin-look midi with a teeny cami and wraparound sandals. Fast forward to AW22 and they’re holding fast to this versatile piece -seen on the catwalks of Saint laurent -swapping out skimpy items for sumptuous knits and chunky boots. The look is everyday and easy; it’s sexy, contemporary and, when styled to perfection, effortlessly chic.

The key is to find the right size. Go too small and your slip skirt will cling in all the wrong places. The fabric should glide over your hips, move in gentle waves across your thighs, not pull and pucker. Pair it with the top of the season – a Prada-style white vest and oversized blazer or throw on a luxe cardi. Mixing that silky material with heavier winter textures is a quick way to work the key look of the season. Simply add heels if you want to hold on to the glam.

The satin skirt looks beautiful in classic, muted colours, but look to bold shades to turn heads.
