Stranger Things Season 4 Finally Has A Release Date: All We Know
After what feels like an eternity, Netflix has finally revealed more details about Stranger Things Season 4, including its release date. Netflix has also announced the new season will be split in two: Volume I‘s episodes will arrive on the 27th of May, and Volume II‘s batch of episodes will arrive on the 1st of July.
The smash hit series that revels in nostalgia of 80s pop culture was one of the earliest Netflix Original successes, and with it’s dedicated fanbase propelling it has seen itself become ingrained into the pop culture of today. So, what are Eleven, Mike and co up to in this season?
The fourth season has been a long time coming, and a testament to that fact is that the trailer Netflix released for it was originally unveiled in February of 2020, just before Covid came along and caused huge delays. The trailer showed (SEASON 3 SPOILERS AHEAD!) that Jim Hopper (David Harbour) who was seemingly killed at the end of the last season is in fact alive, and has ended up somewhere in Russia. Despite apparently being blown up during a climatic fight with hitman Grigori, Hopper is seen doing hard labour under Soviet guard. How he survived will (presumably)be answered in this new season.

The show’s creators, as well as David Harbour, have teased that there’ll be some revelations on Hopper’s backstory too, including a “big, huge reveal.” Harbour commented that the resurrected police chief will be somewhat different to before: “We’ll see a very different guy going forwards. The same guy, but in a different vein. It’s a very cool thing to be able to play.”
But what else is set to be happening in the season? There’s a number of plot threads from Season 3 that fans want to see developed or resolved, one of the biggest being Eleven’s loss of her powers at the end of the last instalment. There’s also been teases that the story will be getting “bigger”, in terms of both locations and story. But Netflix hasn’t released a huge amount of info regarding the story yet.

Netflix’s official synopsis for the new season is “It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”
Stranger Things Season 4 also sees several new cast members join the series: Amybeth McNulty plays Vickie, a “band nerd” Myles Truitt plays Patrick, a Hawkins basketball player, Regina Ting Chen will play Ms Kelly, a guidance counsellor and Grace Van Dien will play Chrissy, a popular cheerleader from Hawkins High. Stranger Things has been confirmed to end (sadly) with a Season 5, but for now Season 4 will be another great adventure with the gang of kids who’ve become some of TV’s most popular characters, as well as setting up for the final season.
