From ‘80s-inspired cocktail dresses to seriously extra party shoes, fun pyjama sets to floor-skimming maxis, the fashion world has fallen hard for the feather trim. The micro trend is everywhere right now and it’s perfect for party season. Scroll to shop our favourites…

Feathers used to feel a bit naff – a bit hen party, desperate housewife or boudoir. But for 2022 they’ve had the ultimate rebrand, suddenly feeling sexy, fun, cool even. Leading the way is 16ARLINGTON who have added pretty plumes to trousers, maxi dresses and ‘60s-inspired shifts, all in a creamy white – they’d actually make great wedding day looks for any brides wanting to push the envelope a little.

We’re also loving Cult Gaia’s Shannon Dress in a bubblegum pink frenzy of wispy feathers. Pair it with this season’s transparent shoe trend and slick back hair for a more modern feel.

For something a little less frou-frou, a feather-trimmed pyjama set is the more diluted way to work the trend. There’s the obvious choice in Sleeper’s silky two-piece which are available in myriad shades but we’ll always return to the classic black paired with barely-there sandals and a red lip. Whilst Borgo de Nor is our latest discovery. The brand work exquisite, vibrant prints into classic silhouettes and unexpected details like one billowing sleeve with a feather trim, or PJ sets peppered with plumes.

And on the high street, look to Mango for a pair of hot pink feather mules that will transform denim and a white shirt; Zara for a feather trimmed black blazer to bring out for all your cocktail parties; and Warehouse for their stunning bandeau, feather-finished jumpsuit.
