When it comes to indulging yourself, there’s not much more fun and satisfying (for your tastebuds) than a good food festival. Now that we’re into spring and coming up to summer, all of the best food festivals will be setting up shop and waiting for you to come and take part in the culinary delights on offer.

With Covid finally (hopefully) being left in the rear view mirror for good, it’s a great time to be out and about trying new things. Here’s a list of the best food festivals that are taking place in 2022.

National Geographic Traveller Food Festival

Returning this July, the popular food festival will see you mentally travelling to your bucket list destinations through culinary delights prepared by some of the biggest names in the business. From picking up a few culinary tricks from top chefs to tasting traditional flavours from around the world, expect a whole programme full of events waiting for you.

Food demonstrations from big-name chefs and interviews with top food personalities will take place. Confirmed chefs include Andi Oliver, Jay Rayner, Grace Dent, Aldo Zilli, Santosh Shah, Jack Stein, Ping Coombes, Fuchsia Dunlop and José Pizarro.

Foodies Festival

Another great festival that’s on this year, Foodies Festival runs from 3rd-5th of June, and will have a whole host of amazing food to try. There’ll be several renowned chefs in attendance demonstrating their culinary magic, such as Jamie Holme and Crystelle Pereira, and there’s also a music lineup to add to the ambience, with acts like Lee Ryan and Simon Webbe from Blue and East 17.

The Yorkshire Dales Food & Drink Festival

This one is a bit further afield than London, taking place in Yorkshire (as you might guess from the name). But it’s definitely worth a trip up there- not only is the food fantastic, there’s also some great guest speakers, including famed TV chefs The Hairy Bikers, as well as James Martin. There’ll be plenty of live cooking demonstrations and master classes to attend, as well as a funfair, making it a particularly good event to take the kids to.

Pub in the Park

Run by the acclaimed Michelin starred chef Tom Kerridge, the brilliant Pub in the Park arrives in London once again later this year, a celebration of British pubs and their place in our culture. For those of us in London, Pub in the Park will be hosted in Wimbledon. While it’ll be a couple of months before the Championships, there’ll still be plenty to see in SW19, including hosts  Simon Rimmer, Steve Tebbutt, and Leyla Kazim, as well as musical acts Basment Jaxx and Sophie Ellis Bextor.

The Big Feastival

The Big Feastival has become one of the UK’s best and most popular food festivals since it began in 2011. Hosted on Alex James’ farm in the Cotswolds, it sees some of the best in the cooking business show off their kitchen skills in “The Big Kitchen”, as well as plenty of other events to get involved with. Given James’ musical career with Blur and other acts, there’s always some great musical acts on too, with this year featuring The Human League, Stereophonics, Jake Bugg, and The Sugababes.

The BBC Good Food Summer Show

One of the most prestigious food events in Britain, the BBC Good Food Summer Show returns this year with some of the very biggest names in the culinary world, like Michel Roux Jr, Tom Kerridge, Nadiya Hussain, John Torode and the queen of baking Dame Mary Berry herself. It’s held in June, and feature all those chefs and more cooking live. There’s also loads of foods and drinks to try out, and you’ll be able to take part in summer drink making masterclasses and the show’s tasting theatre.

Taste of London

Another fab foodie event, Taste of London is a huge five day event in June, located in Regent’s Park, and brings together some of the best food you can find. It features 36 restaurants, 45 chefs, 150 artisan producers and eight sessions of a culinary bonanza. It’s one of the best ways to sample some truly great foods in London, but be quick: the festival is hugely popular and its exclusive champagne pre sale ends on the 24th of March.
