19th September 2024 | By Andrea Pinto

Whether you’re in the mood for something cultural or foodie, there’s lots to do this weekend, with new theatre, a great new fashion pop-up and oyster season upon us. Here’s our picks of what to do this weekend:

Book a spot at this culinary residency

Mareida, one of 2025’s most hotly anticipated London openings, is making its London debut with a residency at Carousel. Led by Chilean culinary icon Carolina Bazán (named Latin America’s Best Female Chef in 2019 by the World’s 50 Best) and her sommelier wife Rosario Onetto, Mareida is all about experiencing the diverse landscape of the Andean South. The menu will feature the likes of scallop parmesan, lamb corn cakes and fish tartare with granita in an ice cream cone and theatrical petit fours of white chocolate, passion fruit, black sesame and quinoa moai.

Check out one of London’s oyster bars

Just in time for oyster season, we recommend heading to one of London’s best spots for oysters. Anyone who adores them will already be well versed in this popular spot, but Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill has been serving up Champagne and oysters for over 102 years. Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur Richard Corrigan took over the restaurant in 2005, restoring the Victorian building to its former glory. If you’re a beginner when it comes to oysters – this is a great place to start.

If you’re in the mood for some autumn theatre, don’t miss Look Back in Anger, a play that holds the mirror up to society in 2024. The play features Jimmy Porter, who is frustrated by his post-war life, and runs a local stall but is embittered by the disapproval of his wife Alison’s wealthier family and a world that has shut him out, he frequently spirals into fits of rage. One night, when Alison’s friend unexpectedly turns up at their home, this uneasy marriage descends further into freefall, with their friends left trying to keep the peace.
