I’m A Beauty Editor – Here’s What I Bought In Boots For Under £30

With the mountains of products that land on my desk every day, I can easily go without spending my own cash on beauty products for days, months, maybe even years. However, as a beauty editor, I often get asked what are my favourite beauty buys? Do you recommend X? Is X really worth the hype? So, loaded with £30 at my local Boots store, I took on the challenge of spending £30 wisely on the beauty products that work, and I honestly use on repeat. Here are the affordable makeup brands and beauty buys I throw in my shopping basket time and time again…
Affordable makeup brands and beauty buys I swear by
Bioré Aqua UV Aqua Rich Protect Lotion SPF50, £11.81
With the sun finally making an appearance, this hydrating facial sunscreen is my absolute must. It absorbs beautifully, leaves no white cast, and I can barely feel it on my skin, plus it gives hi-tech and strong protection against UVA and UVB rays (you won’t ever find me applying anything lower than SPF50 on my face).

e.l.f. No Budge Shadow Sticks, £6
If you’re time-poor or tend to have a shaky hand when applying your makeup (which I do), these creamy crayons will have you dressed-up in no time. I simply swipe on my lids, smudge with my fingertips, add some mascara and voila I’m good to go. With a huge colour range and bargainous price, these definitely give more expensive brands a run for their money.
Boots Everyday Unperfumed Hairspray Maximum Hold, £1.60
It may not be a cult classic, but it gives L’Oreal’s Ellnett a run for its money! A fine mist that is non-sticky and holds my style in place for hours without an icky lingering smell following me around all day. It brushes out easily at night which has saved me washing my hair at silly o’clock after many wild nights out.
Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Pencil in black, £2.99
A beauty essential, this smudgy pencil gives an intense dose of colour and glides across my eyelids and my waterline without tugging or pulling my skin. Although it’s long-lasting, it’s also super easy to remove at the end of the night and leaves no panda eye. A 10/10 pencil to create a smokey eye.
Revolution Balm Glow, £5.99
I’m obsessed with multi-tasking products. Who has the time for a full-face of makeup using umpteen products every day? Not me! This lips, cheek, eye balm trio leaves a glossy tint that is buildable where you want more colour yet light enough for areas you want a subtle finish. You can find this deep in my handbag in multiple colours, my current favourite shade is Sunkissed Nude that adds some depth to my tired complexion.
