Bad Sisters Is A Madcap New Dark Comedy From Sharon Horgan

Fan of dark comedies and thrillers? You might be intrigued then by Bad Sisters, a brand new series from Pulling and Catastrophe’s Sharon Horgan. The show, which also stars Horgan in a central role, focuses on the lives of the Garvey sisters, who are all bound together by the death of their parents and a vow to protect one another.
The series will run for ten episodes, and sees the Garvey sisters come under investigation by the insurance company of their now deceased brother-in-law, concerned that he may have infact been killed maliciously by the sisters, since they all seem to harbour a grudge against him. The show will focus on the close knit relationship between the sisters, and feature the characteristic squabbles of family. It’s also based on a similar Flemish series, Clan, which released in 2012.

The cast of Bad Sisters, alongside Horgan, also stars Anne-Marie Duff (Sex Education, The Salisbury Poisionings), Eva Birthistle (Brooklyn), Eve Hewson (The Luminaries) and Sarah Greene (Normal People, Frank of Ireland) as the other sisters. There’s also Claes Bang, Brian Gleeson, Dayl McCormack, Assaad Bouab and Saise Quinn in other supporting roles. The show was produced by Horgan’s production company, Merman, which is also producing the upcoming Lily Allen comedy-drama Dreamland.
The official trailer for Bad Sisters was released recently, and shows the five sisters (reluctantly) attending the funeral of their deceased brother in law, before being approached and questioned by investigators. Flash back six months, and it turns out that yes, the five did come together to plot their brother-in-law being killed, as it’s revealed that he was in fact a manipulative abuser who constantly insulted and undermined his wife. “Why not give nature a helping hand?” muse the sisters, before a montage plays of the sisters both trying to get rid of him and wondering if they should go through with it or not.
The first two episodes of Bad Sisters will air together when the series premieres on Apple TV+ on 19th August, and will then continue weekly for the remaining eight episodes.
