Few things set the fashion set into a tizzy more than a covetable high street collaboration. So our interested was instantly piqued when we got wind of this one. Known for her signature hand-drawn knitwear designs, Bella Freud is joining forces with none other than Marks & Spencer. Available online and in selected stores from today [17th October], M&S x Bella Freud is one of those launches destined to sell out…

Before we get into the edit, let’s unpack what you can expect from the 27-piece capsule. Of course, there’s a range of Freud’s iconic knits emblazoned with words like ‘honey’, ‘nature’ and ‘divine feminine’ – a decidedly optimistic addition to even the most colour-shy fashionista’s wardrobe. Moreover, these are made from fabrics like merino and wool cashmere, so there’s seemingly no sleeping on quality.

I wanted it to be an intensification of what I do best, so I’ve chosen things that are the essence of what I feel I do well.

Alternatively, there a more minimalist designs such as a navy pinstriped suit (available with a skirt and/or trousers), along with pussy bow blouses and eye-catching accessories.

In short, it’s a small but mighty range that leans into the pieces Freud’s known for. “I wanted it to be an intensification of what I do best, so I’ve chosen things that are the essence of what I feel I do well,” Freud told M&S of her vision for the new collaboration.

As for cost, prices start at £15 and range up to £139, which certainly makes it more accessible than Bella’s own brand (where knitwear starts at £245 and goes as high as £575).
