A while back we did a piece on our favourite supermarket wine, and it only makes sense to pair that with a follow up all about the best cheeses. While we love heading to our local cheesemonger, sometimes you need a supermarket option that you know will do the trick. We’ve surveyed the team and come up with some of our favourites, from camembert and brie to gouda and burrata.

“Everyone who knows me knows that I’m a big cheese fan. I’m at my local cheesemonger most weekends and soft cheese is my go-to. Having said that, I was recently converted to the Le Rustique Camembert Cheese – it’s rich, flavourful, and creamy – so it tastes expensive but costs less than a fiver” – Natasha, Digital Editor

“Because who doesn’t love a good Camembert? Instagram has been driving me crazy with loads of fun autumnal recipes – my favourite is just baked camembert so it’s nice and gooey, with cranberry sauce and walnuts.” – Andrea, Food, Culture & Lifestyle Writer

“I’m a sucker for a baked camembert and I don’t think you need to spend a fortune to find a good one. I slash the top of this a few times, add garlic, rosemary, good-quality extra virgin olive oil and a tiny bit of flakey sea salt – you can add a splash of white wine if you’re feeling fancy. The perfect crowd-pleaser served with a warm French baguette and a glass of red” – Astrid, Contributing Fashion & Lifestyle Editor

“You either love it or hate it and I’m a blue cheese nut. This is especially good melted into pasta or crumbled over piping hot chunky chips. Thank me later” – Robyn, Managing Director
“Nutty and creamy it makes a great addition to a dinner party cheese board with a drizzle of truffle honey… or, just a chunk straight from the fridge, which is how I usually eat it!” – Astrid, Contributing Fashion & Lifestyle Editor
“This cheese is delicious as a starter with a salad or on top of a pizza or pasta dish for a seriously indulgent Italian feast” – Harriet, Head of Partnerships
“I used to think of cheese as an indulgence, but a host of Instagram fitness influencers are telling me its actually healthy now, so without independent research I’ve chosen to take them at their word and my cheese intake has skyrocketed. Gouda is a go-to because as well as being delicious, it’s incredibly versatile – chuck it in an omelette, put on top of some toast, or even grate on top of pasta, it’s all good.” – Patrick, Editorial Assistant
I love a soft cheese, and this is a great option. It’s affordable and goes great with crusty bread and cranberry sauce in the winter time” – Imogen, Junior Graphic Designer
“It’s cheap, cheerful and the closest thing I can find in a supermarket that tastes like the one I get at home in India that’s fresh from the dairy. Works amazing in curries, or on its own with a sprinkling of salt” – Andrea, Food, Culture & Lifestyle Writer
