If you want to know what beauty products work (or not!), you can always rely on Caroline Hirons, beauty blogger and skincare aesthetician, to give you her no-BS opinion and advice.

Racking up 720K followers on Instagram, and founder of Skin Rocks (her own best-selling skincare line) we delve deeper into Caroline’s routine asking everything from her go-to products to the golden beauty rules she lives by.

What’s your first beauty memory?

All my earliest beauty memories are of my mother and grandmother removing their eye makeup at the dressing table mirror.

Your Skin Rocks skincare line is a best-seller. What inspires your products?

I am forever inspired by science and the availability of current ingredients.

What beauty advice would you give your twenty-year-old self?

Easy! Use SPF as part of your everyday routine. Do not bake in the sun. A tan is not a goal, it’s a sign of damage.

‌What beauty products do you buy on repeat?

These are my go-to’s:

Name the 1 skincare ingredient everyone should use in their routine?

I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but some form of sun protection is your must-have because everything else is too tailored to skin type, tone and concern. The one thing we all have in common is that we need to protect our skin against the sun.‌

Where do you shop for special beauty finds?

Everywhere, but I shop more for unique finds while I’m abroad as I know every beauty product in the UK market. When I’m on holiday, I take a large, reinforced case to fill with all the products I’ve never seen before and bring it home with me. I particularly love Ulta when I’m in the US.

What are your five makeup bag heroes?

Have you got a signature scent?

That would be telling. I layer about 3-4 different fragrances but the one that is most widely available is Byredo Slow Dance.‌

“Never sleep in your makeup. Blend, blend, blend and don’t overdo it.”

What are the beauty golden rules you live by?

Never sleep in your makeup.

Blend, blend, blend.

Don’t overdo it.

You’re the founding member of the Beauty Backed Trust, tell us more.

Beauty Backed was founded as a reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic, to support individuals and businesses who were impacted. Fast-forward 3 years, we now have The Grant Programme which is available for people who need extra support and guidance whilst getting back on their feet.

If you were on a tight budget, which 3 products would you buy and why?

The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser: Everyone can use this, and it works for your first, second and morning cleanses.

Nivea Babies & Kids Protective Sensitive Sun Cream Lotion SPF 50+: This is £6.50 for 200ml, a bargain! And it’s suitable for all.

Carmex Pot: I must always have a lip balm nearby.

How do you switch off after a difficult day?

Hair up, face off, comfy clothes on, dinner, sofa, TV. Done.

Lastly, what has been your proudest career moment?‍

I honestly don’t look at what I’ve done in the past, I’m always onto the next. I suppose the success of my book, Skincare The Edit, was nice, but I’m not big on reflection. I feel like I’ve only just got going
