There’s a lot of news going on right now, so it seems to have passed unnoticed that the new James Bond might have been quietly crowned. According to reports in a blog called The Vulcan, Tom Hardy will take on the role when Daniel Craig finally steps down after upcoming Bond movie No Time To Die.

The blog was picked up by the Evening Standard who were only too happy to print the sketchy story, so we’re obviously keen to jump on the click-baity news too and to hell with the fact that literally nobody’s heard of The Vulcan and they only have 527 Twitter followers on Twitter. Sources-schmources…

According to the report, the announcement was meant to happen in November to coincide with the latest film, and the last to star Daniel Craig, No Time To Die. However, apparently it might now be delayed until early 2021 due to *drum roll* the coronavirus pandemic.

The pick would finally put an end to one of the most hotly debated Hollywood questions, and also close the door on the imminent possibility of a black or female Bond given Hardy is quite demonstrably neither.

It might now be delayed until early 2021 due to *drum roll* the coronavirus pandemic…

Hardy would be the (00)7th actor to officially play the world’s most famous spy after Sean Connery, George Lazenby (followed by Connery again), Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.

Beating off pretty much every Brit who’s held a gun on screen in the last decade, including Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, James Norton and Richard Madden, Hardy would be a solid if unadventurous choice.

But given the source for the entire story, that’s been circulated across most British newspapers now, is an unproven Star Trek blog, we’re going to take it with a pinch of salt…

Anyway, here’s the latest No Time To Die trailer to enjoy…
