The fifth season of Netflix’s hugely popular Emily in Paris, starring Lily Collins, is finally back on our screens today, although this time, when we meet her, she’s in Rome. Here’s everything we know about the new season:

What will Season 5 of Emily in Paris be about?

So, about that location change: when we left her last, Emily had moved from France’s capital to the sun-soaked streets of Rome, switching up the Eiffel Tower for the Colosseum. Netflix says the show isn’t about to be retitled, and things will eventually move back to Paris, but for now, she’s sticking in Italy and the new opportunities she finds there. Also in Season 4, we saw her part ways with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), her on-and-off boyfriend. Both were at different points in their lives, and both agreed to part ways. But Gabriel may very well pursue Emily in her new life.

Emily also meets Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), an Italian, whose family has a high-end business and who has a romantic interest in her. Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), Emily’s boss, is keen to get that family business onboard as a client, so Emily will be spending a lot more time in Rome and in his orbit- and perhaps things will turn serious from there. Series creator Darren Star told Netflix’s Tudum that “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome…It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome”, as part of a way to keep things fresh.

Of course, there’s other characters who’ll be cropping up on her Roman holiday: Mindy (Ashley Park), Emily’s close friend and Paris resident, also travelled to Italy in Season 4, trying to get over her difficult relationship with her boyfriend. There’s also Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), who seems to be coming back with a bang. Emily’s continuing adventures in Rome (and Paris) will also see the returns of Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery and William Abadie, along with some new faces.
