It’s not everyday a 26-year-old makes history, but earlier this week saw Euphoria star, Zendaya, win her second Emmy Award for lead actress in a drama series. The crowd roared as she became the only Black woman in history to win two Emmys for this category, the first of which she won back in 2020.

It’s not the first time the Hollywood star has made Emmy history, as when she was awarded the trophy for Lead Actress – Drama Series in 2020, she became the youngest person to win the award, at just 24 years old.

Starring in Euphoria as Rue, a teenager battling with drug addiction, she graced the stage and thanked fans of the show for their undeniable support. “My greatest wish for Euphoria was that it could help heal people, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shared their story with me.” She continued, “I want you to know that anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like they are a Rue, I want you to know that I am so grateful for your stories, and I carry them with me, and I carry them with her.”

If seeing the star win big at the Emmys made you itching to know what’s in store for season 3, we can’t blame you. Buckle in as we spill all we know about what’s coming our way in Euphoria Season 3. Expect high energy drama, farewells to some of our favourite characters and a whole lot of teen angst.

The crowd roared as she became the only Black woman in history to win two Emmys for Lead Actress - Drama Series, the first of which she won back in 2020.

If you’re yet to indulge in the American teen drama series that just about everyone and their Nan has seen, then let us fill in the gaps for you. Euphoria, starring Zendaya as Rue, follows a group of teens embark on their high school journey.

The narrative is told from Rue’s perspective, who openly says within the first episode that she’s not the most reliable narrator. We follow her as the summer comes to an end and she returns from a 30-day rehab program. The months that follow are muddled with drugs, drama, attitude, betrayals and general teenage problems as the students of East Highland High School try to forge their identity.

At the end of season two, drama ensues as we see Lexi Howard’s (Maude Apatow) controversial school play come into full force – you might recognise the viral TikTok sound ‘Is this f-ing play about us?’ from this section. Meanwhile over at Fezco’s drug den  – known for being Rue’s dealer – the series ends with a (literal) bloodbath with police involved.

In terms of the upcoming season three, there’s not a lot of information out there just yet, but a few bits have been revealed including the farewell to one of our favourite characters: Kat Hernandez.

Kat, one of the main characters in the high-octane drama, starts off overlooked but as soon as her sex tape is leaked, she’s on the lips of everyone. Portrayed by Barbie Ferriera, the actor announced in August that she would be leaving the HBO show ahead over season 3’s release. She announced her departure on Instagram, saying “After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye. I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez.”

Little else has been announced, with no release date or trailer in sight. For now we’ll have to sit tight with Zendaya’s huge Emmy win and rewatch the first two series until we know more…
