May New In: From Simon Miller For Mango To A New London Rouje Store

The Handbook’s Contributing Fashion Editor rounds up all the news, launches, store openings and hot picks in this month’s Fashion Heroes. From the Mango X Simon Miller collaboration everyone’s talking about to a high street favourites new launch and a store opening that will feel like a little slice of Left Bank cool in London, here’s what’s happening style-wise this summer…
MANGO X SIMON MILLER
Just about every style influencer worth their salt descended to the Balearic island of Menorca last week for a very special celebration of Mango’s much-anticipated Simon Miller collection. Inspired by a carefree spirit and the deep blues of the Mediterranean it felt like a natural choice to showcase the line, as did the guest list which included regular style-meets-travel content creators like Lucy Williams, Monikh Dale and Lizzy Hadfield.
The collection is now live – run, don’t walk this is bound to sell out – and comprises a joyful collection of bold colour-blocking pieces, fishnet midis made for island sunsets, statement sunnies, anemone-printed co-ords and striped swimwear.

Free-est is an exciting new launch from high street favourite, Free People, and one to bookmark if you’re into that carefree bohemian style.
The collection brings together the brand’s popular FP Beach and Endless Summer collections for an edit of pieces that will have you dreaming of summer holidays. Think pretty little white dresses to pair with raffia bags and straw boaters; pastel-hued knits to warm up in after sea swims; and billowing maxis in fruity shades that will work for everything from destination weddings to sundowners around the pool.

Expect a collection of bohemian heroes, from little white dresses to pair with raffia bags and straw boaters to pastel-hued knits to warm up in after sea swims.

A DAY’S MARCH X LISA LARSSON

When A Day’s March’s Sybarite overshirt landed on my desk, I let out a little squeal of delight. Say hello to the perfect summer shirt. Cut to a traditional menswear shape with an azure blue collar that will make you think of the rooftops of Santorini, it’s embroidered with sweet motifs of travel-inspired things – think a bottle of wine, an oyster shell and a lonely shrimp on the sleeve.
The hero piece is part of a limited edition collection between A Day’s March and escapist artist Lisa Larsson, whose signature style has made the fashion brand’s pieces even more charming.
Also included in the pickings are linen shirts, vintage-inspired swimsuits, whimsical slogan tees and illustrated silk scarves.

LIBERTY LONDON X LOVESHACKFANCY

I’ve never watched Bridgerton but this collection has me wanting to binge the Netflix series dressed in one of its limited editiron dresses. Enter LoveShackFancy X Liberty, the second collection from the duo for Summer 2023, which uses Liberty London’s iconic floral fabrics weaved into LSF’s romantic frills, whimsical bow detailing and fun feminine frocks.
The standout piece has to be the mini Monita dress with its generously sized bow and tired skirt. Perfect for a fun destination wedding -providing the couple don’t take themselves too seriously – or a raucous garden party.
The collection is available to buy online at LoveShackFancy’s global site, in their Notting Hill store or at Liberty’s itself.
ROUJE OPEN LONDON STORE

One of my favourite French brands is coming to London this summer, as Parisian designer, model, creative and all-round cool-girl, Jeanne Damas, opens her first flagship UK store for Rouje.
Rouje is the brand Damas launched in 2016, embodying French girl style- think cute cropped knits, vintage-cut jeans and ditsy print tea dresses – and a timeless, no-fuss approach to dressing.
The brand already has three stores in France and this London offering will open just off Oxford Street on South Molton and with fellow French labels like Maje, Sandro and The Kooples lining the street, it will be in good company.
