gails drive thru

Every Londoner knows the true pinnacle of finding the perfect apartment in the city is its proximity to a Gail’s. If it’s more than a five-minute walk away, we don’t want to know. But if you aren’t lucky enough to have one on the corner of your local high street or pass one on your morning commute but still desperately need your caffeine and spinach roll fix, then the prospect of the bakery chain opening a series of Gail’s drive-thru outposts will excite you.

Since opening its first site in Hampstead Heath in 2005, the popular bakery chain has since gone on to open over 100 stores across the capital and beyond. The brand is now wanting to expand its offering further by opening 10 Gail’s drive-thru locations in the next 12 months.

With Starbuck’s and Costa drive-thrus renowned for queuing cars around the corner, it’s easy to see why Gail’s would soon want to jump on the same business move, and it might be more of a near-future reality than you thought.

Yesterday Propel Hospitality reported that the company has hired property advisor Forty Group to help find locations between 2,000-4,000 square feet with space for 20+ cars.

Gail’s co-founder and CEO Tom Molnar said: “We are first and foremost a bakery, so it’s about the kitchen, and then if we have space for seating, we will add it in.”

He continued: “We are always experimenting with new formats as it allows us to take advantage of different real estate opportunities that present themselves.”

An official timeline is yet to be determined but we’ll report back once we know more. Whether it takes two weeks or two years to complete, we’re excited at the prospect of grabbing a grabbing a Gail’s latte and their signature cinnamon roll on our next road trip.
