I love a dinner party; I love hosting them, I love being invited to them. It is a window into the host’s world, so chicken wine simply won’t suffice. Enough with the last-minute Sainsbury’s offerings for a host who has prepared for this night both mentally and physically for days, if not weeks. Get creative. Here’s a highly curated list of what to bring a host that isn’t store-bought wine or Waitrose flowers.

Salad Tongs

You can never have enough decorative utility in your room, and having a pick of serving spoons is a major plus especially at a dinner party when there are multiple platters going around!

Cookbook

It feels like cookbooks are always something that is gifted and not often bought for oneself. They’re always welcomed… especially the NYT no recipe recipes, which I revisit very often.

Coffee Table Book

The Gourmand has some of my favourite coffee table books. I also particularly love gifting books that photograph the art of cooking and hosting that can be used for future inspo!
