Summer has both a sense of freedom and fun, but also chaos. Friends are jetting off, people are in and out of the office… It’s hard to keep track from one day to the next. So as the leaves turn and we lean into September, I begin to long for those easy catch-ups with my girlfriends. You know the ones I mean: crisps and dips, cocktails, free-flowing wine – no fuss, just an evening of belly laughing, nattering and putting the world to right.
It’s a simple pleasure and yet one of life’s greatest gifts – in my opinion. I say this having just had a gorgeous night in of drinks and nibbles. It got me thinking about the things that make it so perfect. Yes, there’s the chat and hilarity, but then there’s the setup, the food, the drinks, and the glasses. As Contributing Style & Interiors Editor, it sent me down a wondrous rabbit hole of decadent homewares and nibbly bits.
All my favourite affordable stores, like Zara and H&M Home, have amazing edits that look seriously expensive. However, I must say that Anthropogie’s selection for hosting is phenomenal. The store has everything from colourful trays and quirky cocktail napkins to chic coupes and elegant serving dishes.
