It’s early days in the AW22 season, but let us indulge you with a sneak peek at the footwear you’re going to be coveting all winter long. From thigh highs to ankle grazers, there’s a boot style just for you.

September is one of the most exciting months in the fashion calendar as we get to luxuriate in an abundance of newness. The glossy mags are jam packed with tempting pieces; shops are done with strappy tops and more than ready for shades of autumn. And we finally get to put a pause on our pedicures and slip our sun kissed toes into the most gorgeous of boots. But which will get your feet strutting this year?

There’s a deluge of shapes, heights and looks to choose from, so we’ve picked four of the most prevalent trends to take away the overwhelm…

1. Western Girls

No need to hotfoot it to Nashville to take on this Cowgirl favourite. The truth is the western boot is currently dominating; it was more a case of which designer didn’t feature the roper heel than did. Ganni, Isabel Marant, Celine, Givenchy, and even Chanel, all showcased their takes on the country look on the AW22 runways. We are officially sold. Bring on those rodeo boots.

2. Over The Knee

These are going to be the marmite boots of the season: thigh high, trickier to style, but ever so sexy. Will you love them or hate them?

Constantly erring on the cooler side of sexy, Isabel Marant brought us the slouchy look, while the air was futuristic with metallics at Courrèges; Bottega Veneta managed to turn the ‘Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman’  leggy boots into quite the picture of sophistication. There could be a higher price tag on these beauties, but we can guarantee they will turn heads.

3. Fashion Wellies

Fashion and function don’t often go hand in hand (in this case, foot), but the infatuation with designer wellies is strong, crazy strong. We’re talking heavy footed lug-sole boots – that could easily take you round the farm – with a fashion twist.

Ganni upped the design quotient with clumpy styles in bold colours of cyclamen pink and pale banana yellow, but feel free to forge ahead in classic black or khaki. They worked for Chanel, so bring on the tweed to match.

4. Sky High Platforms

A little bit glam with a nod to the 70s, these elevated heels were definitely made for making an entrance. Designers Gianvito Rossi, Versace and Valentino sent their footwear to skyscraper heights and high street heroes, Zara and H&M weren’t scared to follow suit. Perfect to wear with shorter skirts, but also gorgeous with the latest must-have maxis.
