From interactive workshops and world-class talks to 2023’s new sustainable interiors feature, here’s why you should visit the London Design Fair this September…

5 things to do at London Design Fair

1. Discover new talented designers & pieces

This year’s London Design Fair is set to be the event’s biggest yet, with over 200 brands and new talented designers showcasing never-seen-before new pieces, as well as sharing their expertise and journey in talks and workshops.

Wander around the Fair and discover the biggest names in the industry right now and upcoming talent making waves in the scene. Big names include Emma Hattan Surface Design, Ben Wilkins Design, Emma Stevenson, House of Quinn, Lick, Made of Matter and Mathilde Wittock.

New for 2023 is the Design Alumni Pavilion, a showcase dedicated to emerging talent. Shining a light on recent graduates, you’ll have the opportunity to discover new pieces from those just starting out in their careers. Alongside this is the Togetherness Design Award 2023, which sees London Design Fair and OYOY Living Design come together. It’ll offer the winning designer an exciting opportunity to have their idea refined, developed and manufactured with OYOY Living Design and exclusively listed on Glassette for three months. On Friday 22nd September (trade open day), the three finalists will unveil their prototypes. Judging the award will be freelance writer and former Wallpaper magazine editor TF Chan; London-based journalist and editor-at-large for Dezeen, Amy Frearson; creative director and founder of OYOY Living Design, Lotte Fynboe; and co-founder and creative director of Glassette, Laura Jackson.

This year’s Fair also features the flagship British Craft Pavilion showcasing collectables and designs from 18 British makers.  As well as a range of international pavilions for countries across the globe, including Ukraine, Sweden, China, UAE, South Korea and more.

2. Immerse yourself in striking pop-up installations

Alongside all of the exhibitors, you’ll have the opportunity to truly immerse yourself in the minds of some of the world’s best designers through a series of installations.

Upon entering the London Design Fair you will be guided through ‘The Power of Colour’, an immersive entrance feature designed by 2LG Studio, created in partnership with colour-centric home decór brand Lick. The installation will champion this year’s theme of ‘Thrive’, celebrating the resilience of the design community while combining 2LG Studio’s founders Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead’s passion for colour.

Further highlights include ‘You CAN Sit With Us’, 2LG Studio’s series of pieces that reimagine existing connections in the design world. It features works by friends of 2LG, both old and new, offering a seat at the table to unique voices and emerging artists.

3. Uncover next year’s big interiors trends

As part of your ticket, you’ll have access to the LDNdesign Talks programme. Sponsored by OYOY Living Design, you’ll have the chance to hear from established designers and leading brands. Expect to learn more about the biggest topics dominating the design community right now and trends forecasts for 2024.

Carefully curated, the programme will run across the full four days of the Fair. Look forward to topics such as How interiors can (and should) tell stories from 2LG Studio founders; The power of colour with speakers from 2LG Studio, Lick and Rapport; and Generative AI with speakers from Print Pattern Archive and Interior Curve founder.

4. Learn how to style your home sustainably

Another major highlight of this year’s London Design Fair will help you add a spark to your home, sustainably. Created in partnership with Blue Patch, the UK’s sustainable business directory, the Fair will be introducing a new showcase “Homes with a Heart”.

Curated by stylist, writer and consultant Roddy Clarke, the area is set to feature a sustainably styled home that demonstrates you don’t have to compromise on aesthetics when choosing more responsibly produced items for your home.

From traditional crafts and small-batch companies to eco-friendly brands, you will be able to uncover new designers and exhibitors who all share the same values and passion for creative design.

Exhibitors include award-winning designer and master craftsman Angus Ross; eco-friendly paints from Edward Bulmer Natural Paint; and textile designer Judi Archer. All exhibitors will be attending Blue Patch’s programme, LET’S DO NET ZERO, to audit and reduce their carbon footprint, with the first steps in auditing made available at the Fair.

5. Enjoy a free sample cocktail at the Cocktail Bar

If you fancy taking your experience up a notch, head over to the on-site Cocktail Bar to get your hands on a free sample cocktail. Located in the heart of the Fair, meet friends here for a quick drink before exploring the rest of the London Design Fair’s offerings. A bespoke menu of serves has been created by cocktail specialists Soul Stirrer. If you don’t fancy a cocktail, stop by the Cork Coffee Lounge to refuel and catch up.
