Due to the vast array of cool bars and local haunts, trendy Westerners are often reluctant to leave their cosy corner of London. If this sounds familiar, or if you are thinking ‘what is all the fuss about’ then here is our guide to the best Christmas party venues in West London, for all budgets and all sizes.
Holborn (0.3 miles)
What: 5 star treatment
Why: You know this already but The Savoy is grand. Grand in style and grand in size, this is the venue if you really want to impress a large team. The events team will help you decide whether you should go for a sit-down dinner for a select group of 60 or whether a 400-strong cocktail reception in the magical River Room is more appropriate. The creamy interior and twinkly central tree of The River Room make it the perfect wintery wonderland; grand yet intimate.
Where: The Savoy, Strand, London
High Road House
Turnham Green (0.2 miles)
What: Members club intimacy
Why: An intimate venue a couple of meanders west of the city, High Road House in Chiswick has a members club vibe (it’s part of Soho House) for your most loyal employees if you want to get away slightly from the slightly hectic atmosphere of central London at Christmas. Choose from the Little Room, Middle Room, Larger Room and Bar, or hire the whole venue for a soiree that will feel a little more intimate than some of the more corporate venues in this guide.
Where: 162 Chiswick High Road, Chiswick, London, W4 1PR
Royal Garden Hotel
High Street Kensington (0.4 miles)
What: Private dining overlooking Hyde Park
Why: The private dining room in the grand Royal Garden Hotel can be booked free of charge for 16-40 guests to enjoy award-winning food and 5 star service. But if ‘small and intimate’ isn’t quite right then choose from ‘big and bold’ or a ‘group festive feast’ in oriental themed surroundings overlooking the treetops in Hyde Park.
Where: 2-24 Kensington High Street, Kensington, London, W8 4PT
Heddon Street Kitchen
Piccadilly Circus (0.4 miles)
What: Festive menus in a private dining room
Why: The Heddon Street Kitchen is as much somewhere you’d like to dine privately with family and friends as you would with colleagues. For the festive season they are offering dinners and drinks receptions for a range of briefs; a private meal for 12 all the way up to a standing reception (and exclusive hire) for 400; roasted celeriac and ham hock, turkey with all the trimmings and Christmas pudding ice cream sundae with brandy sauce. The in-house events team will help you pick the right package and the location amongst the Christmas lights in the West End will get everyone in the festive spirit.
Where: 3-9 Heddon Street, London
Shepherd's Bush Market (0.3 miles)
What: Add to the venue’s colourful history
Why: After a venue that has welcomed Amy Winehouse, Kings of Leon and The Killers to its stage? Perfect. Bush Hall is pretty much a blank space with bucketloads of rock and roll history. They can set up tables in the main room for a dinner and then progress into dancing, or skip the dinner and go straight for the DJ set or live music. The character of the building comes from its colourful history; Bush Hall was a dance hall in the roaring twenties, a soup kitchen during World War II and in 2015… your party venue.
Where: 310 Uxbridge Road, London, W12 7LJ
High Street Kensington (0.5 miles)
What: Grandeur only a Palace can achieve
Why: Prince William and Kate’s London residence is available for event hire in a range of rooms and packages. The Orangery overlooks the manicured lawns, the state apartments are a truly regal setting for drinks receptions and dinners and the entrance hall is a great place for a drinks reception set around the central Swarovski crystal sculpture inspired by the lace of Queen Victoria’s wedding dress. The venue can cater to various numbers of guests but if you have a lot of people to entertain then they can accommodate up to 2,000.
Where: Kensington Palace Gardens, London, W8 4PX
London Victoria (0.3 miles)
What: Contemporary cocktails in the heart of Belgravia
Why: For Christmas parties, Eaton Square Cocktail Bar has three rooms available to hire; intimate and candle-lit, contemporary and cool and luxurious and chandeliered with various food and drink packages including bottles of Moet and get in the festive spirit with bottles of Belvedere and rounds of JagerBombs. The bar excels in mixology and music, making it a fun and glitzy venue in the heart of Belgravia.
Where: 17 Hobart Place, London SW1W 0HH
Smith and Wollensky
What: Prime steak in a prime location
Why: One for the carnivores. Smith and Wollensky are an American-style prime fine dining Steakhouse on the Strand. Their name came about from randomly selecting surnames from a telephone directory but we have taken the mindlessness out of your Christmas venue search and are bringing Smith & Wollensky to you. Pick the Theodore Roosevelt Room, complete with dedicated barman, or one of the two smaller rooms for 25 guests and enjoy some of the best steak in London, day or night.
Where: The Adelphi Building, 1-11 John Adam Street, London WC2N 6HT
