It’s time to get high…
Are rooftop fitness classes pushing rooftop bars to the sidelines this summer? No, probs not. But they are dominating the workout world, with their show-offy views and promises of continental breakfasts, so it’s no surprise we’re all desperately scrolling the web for them. But there is a down(ward dog) side to all fabulous things in life. In this case, it’s the wake up call as, if you’re looking to capture the sunrise for the Gram, you’re going to have to shuffle out of your slippers hella early. Six in fact, in most cases… but it’s so worth it for the choccie croissant and goody bag.
Without further ado, here’s where to sweat it out up high this summer…

Beat the chia pot and latte from Pret, and join Savage Garden for a spot of brekky and yoga up high. Their recent event, themed The Power of Choice, proved a huge hit in July, so they’re laying out an additional three sessions; Holding Your Own (16th August), ABS-oloutely CORE-geous (30th August), and Superstition Special – The Habit Breaker (13th September). The classes, run by The Yeh Yoga Co, will have you namastay-ing to the sights of The Shard, The Gherkin and delicious vegan shakes from Missfits Nutrition waiting for you in the corner…
Not one for the over-sleepers, the classes will fire off at 7am and last 75 minutes, including time for cold blend coffees and breakfast snacks. Oh, and did we mention the goody bags? Ah, now that has got you setting the alarm…
Head to London’s mesmeric castle in the clouds this summer and enjoy a dramatic vinyasa flow class. The unrivalled location of Sky Garden means the scope of London can be indulged in whilst you stretch yourselves silly before the working day. Up 36 floors, the sunrise yoga comes with a temptatious continental breakfast buffet in Darwin Brasserie or, on the weekend, smoothies will be the fuel to your fire in the stunning Sky Pod Bar. The classes may be on the early side, but yoga will never be the same again after this indulgent, highly Instagrammable experience.

Bidding farewell to the summer, the invigorating sessions will run on the 14th and 21st of August, and 4th of September. If you’re thinking Namast’ay in bed then we bet you’ll regret it…

The HIIT experts from Clapham-based studio HEX will be steering you well away from the other boozy offerings and music experiences going on at the ravishing John Lewis rooftop this month, to help you shed the pounds. No really, this class is run by ex-army members – you know, the kinds of people that find interval training fun? Yep. So, it’s going to be tough work but you’ll reap the rewards (and quite possibly a gin) post work-out!
For something a little more chill, akin to the drink you’ll be having post-work out, why not try the HEX yoga classes also on the rooftop? You’ll build through the foundations of Vinyasa flow and work off tension from one too many work e-mails… and relax!
Classes will be running every Friday at 7.30am until September
