Remember that time that it rained? Waaaay back, like four days ago? Seems like a dream, right? Not least because it’s forecast to go up to around 30 degrees again this weekend.
Beer we go...
We’re on the cusp of beer day, so what better way to get into the spirit than the London Craft Beer Festival? The festival returns with their biggest celebration yet, with over 65 breweries from around the world taking part all at the festival’s new home in Wapping’s Tobacco Dock. Taking place over three days, look forward to a combination of fantastic beers, big hitters from the London restaurant scene and a stellar line-up of DJs.
Friday 3rd – 5th August
A Martini-tweeny bit more, please
Stevie Parle’s Palatino are getting into the summer vibe by teaming up with Martini Riserva Speciale for a special communal feast this weekend. The feasting menu puts vegetables centre-stage, with plenty of antipasti, lighter dishes and salad being passed along the table, together with loads of the restaurant’s amazing focaccia. And Martini will be bringing along the drinks, serving its own Prosecco to start, followed by a negroni, an ambrato and tonic and finishing off with their signature Sbagliato. What’s more, all guests will go home with an exclusive poster taken from Martini’s heritage artwork collection.

It’s National Oyster Day on Sunday (I know, I know, you can hardly contain yourself), and at London Shell Co they’re celebrating with a special oyster-themed boat trip. Their ‘Popping & Shuckin’ Oyster Cruise will see the floating seafood restaurant serve four oyster based courses, all paired with a list of sparkling wines over two and a half hours of watching London float past (technically you’ll be the one floating past, but you know what I mean – or you will after those sparkling wines).
Sunday 5th August
Happy birthday to P.F. Chang’s Asian Table. The Leicester Square restaurant is celebrating hitting old age by offering guests complimentary dishes every day for a week! And I only got a romper suit on my first birthday! Starting this Saturday guests will receive a special sharing dish when they book in advance and reference ‘First Birthday.’ So get booking…
Saturday 4th – Saturday 11th August
Head to one of London’s coolest underground venues, Brasserie Zedel. This cavernous venue off Picadilly Circus will be playing host to a Saturday late night music show at The Crazy Coqs cabaret bar which is totally free! The usually ticketed events see a different band headline every week and this weekend they’re going all country with The Steve & Ben Somers Country Band from 11pm. The ‘Round Midnight’ event also features its own special cocktail list. What else were you going to be doing at 11pm this Saturday, anyway?
Saturday 4th August

Here we goose
Goose Island, the Chicago brewery, are turning 30 and the party’s going to be held down at Dinerama this weekend. The Shoreditch venue will be hosting live DJ’s from Hoxton Radio, street food (obviously) from Dinerama’s excellent traders, and best of all, a broad range of brews from Goose Island. What’s more, the first 300 punters will receive a free can of IPA.
Sunday 5th August
Merry, um, summer
Christmas starts earlier every year. Apparently supermarkets are now stocking mince pies (WT-Actual-F?) and so to celebrate in true festive style Peckham’s Rooftop Film Club are putting on a rooftop screening of… Love Actually! Enjoy Hugh Grant dad-dancing, cry as Emma Thomson opens her Joni Mitchell CD and laugh with Colin Frissell, all in the hottest weather you’ve ever seen the film.
Friday 3rd August
Okay, so not a weekend thing, but tonight The Old Truman Brewery will present V, a brand new vegan lifestyle festival that takes over East London this August! The party will see vegan cocktails, vegan fried chicken, vegan steaks and vegan ice cream, ‘waffle mountains’ and pretty much everything else beginning with the word ‘vegan’. With over 2,00 revellers it’s a one-of-a-kind lifestyle event.
Eastern Electrics, confusingly taking place in Morden Park, is a music festival hitting ‘sarf London this Saturday and Sunday. Plus, being a London festival, there’s no nonsense about camping overnight, instead it’s all very civilised and you can even get the tube.
