What To Do This Weekend: 5th – 6th March
It’s official! Spring is here. We’ve searched far and wide to find the best things to fill your precious 76 hours with (we did the maths and there’s no time for sleeping based on a 5pm Friday clock-off and back at your desk at 9am on Monday) and we bring you the top 5 here, in the first in our weekly round-up of ‘what to do this weekend’. Drinks, brunch and a splash of culture; we have you covered. Oh, and not to forget Sunday is Mother’s Day – check out our guide if you’re still stuck for ideas. Roll on Friday…
Nightjar
DRINK: Foraged Cocktails
So it’s Friday night and you’re looking for a great cocktail bar, perhaps you have a date, perhaps you just want to drink because it’s your birthday/it’s been a tough week/your friend from out of London is over and you want to show them how great London is. Whatever the reason might be, the 3rd best bar in the world is going to be a good shout; step in Nightjar. You probably already know them, but at the moment they have a special cocktail, Druid’s Botanist Cup which is produced with Islay’s first and only dry gin, The Botanist, and is available until the end of March. Foraged ingredients such as mahonia flowers from Haggerston Park join Caol Ila Whisky and Unicum Plum liqueur a Hungarian syrup which features 40 foraged botanicals. Get adventurous on a Friday and try it for flavours you’ve never had before.

EAT: Bottomless Saturday Brunch
If we could have a bottomless brunch every weekend, without our friends worrying about our alcohol consumption, we definitely would. Surely there is no better way to start a weekend then with good food and a crisp glass or two of Prosecco? With that in mind, this weekend sees the launch of 100 Wardour St’s new Saturday brunch, running every Saturday throughout March and April. Two courses cost £18.95 or for £22.95 you can go all out and have three – and why not? It’s the weekend after all. Dishes include the likes of sweet potato and Shiitake mushroom hash with a poached egg; blueberry-poached pineapple, crushed meringue, and yoghurt and salt beef sandwich on rye with pickle and mustard. For an extra £15 you can add unlimited Bloody Marys or Prosecco – as we say, there’s no better way to start the weekend…

SEE: Botticelli Exhibition Opens at V&A
One of our strongest memories of art lessons at school was studying Sandro Botticelli’s ‘Birth of Venus’ and ‘La Primavera’ – two of the most recognisable works of art of all time. Saturday marks the first day of ‘Botticelli Reimagined’ at the V&A, on until 3rd July, showing over 50 original works in what is Britain’s largest Botticelli exhibition since 1930 as well as modern interpretations from William Morris, David LaChapelle and Andy Warhol.

HEAR: Live soul at Kensington Roof Gardens
It’s officially the first weekend of Spring so embrace the lighter evenings (even if the weather is no warmer) and head up to the rooftop on Saturday for a night of live music from Atlantic Soul Orchestra. All our favourite golden era soul music from Otis Redding, Ray Charles and Sam Cooke will be performed and guests have the option of staying on for a night of clubbing after the show.
Where: 6th and 7th Floor, 99 Kensington High Street, Kensington, London, W8 5SA, United Kingdom
Cinnamon Kitchen
DO: Paint Pelt Your Friends
It’s the weekend it’s time to destress, let out all the tension and pelt your friends with paint…obviously. The House of Holi pod is returning to Cinnamon Kitchen the perfect antidote to brighten up a cold, miserable March weekend. You can also indulge in a five course meal because no festival is complete without a feast; which includes the likes of King prawns in coconut and cardamom curry with ghee rice and carrot samosa, pistachio burfi and fig-semolina halwa – there are also Holi inspired cocktails from Anise bar too – chucking paint at your friends is thirsty work after all.
