What’s Going On This Weekend? Friday 5th – Sunday 7th October
Here we go again, another weekend. Isn’t this a bizarre time of year? Treading water toward between summer and winter. And if the weather doesn’t know what to do with itself, at least you can. Here’s our suggestions of what to do this weekend.
Aqua Shard
With basically the best views across London, Aqua Shard are adding some of the best tastes too! Thanks to Domaines Barons de Rothschild and their wine dinner. Set in the private dining rooms the exclusive wine dinner will be hosted by Stephen Lane from Rothschild and the restaurant will showcase outstanding wines, paired with a three course menu.

Old Spitalfields Market
Air Canada will be hosting a Poutinerie pop-up, showcasing destination-twists on the classic Canadian dish. Held at Old Spitalfields Market, the gourmet Poutine menu has gone global. Normally the Canadian favourite combines crispy chips topped wit cheese curd and gravy. But new versions will include variations of the dish based on its global flight routes including Hawaiian Loco Moco Poutine Poke made up of fries, seared salmon, boiled egg, scallion, crispy pineapple and sesame ginger miso mayo, alongside Cancun’s Mayan Enchilada made up of sweet potato fries, corn chips, red enchilada sauce and avocado cilantro dressing.
Thursday 4th October from 5.30-10.30pm
The Geffrye Museum
It’s time to battle it out with burgers. This Saturday Time Out (sort of Handbook competitors but hostilities are paused when there are burgers at stake) and Deliveroo have joined forces with eight of the best burger joints to battle out to see who is the verifiable best. Held at Shoreditch’s Geffrye Museum the competitors will be Mac and Wild, Shake Shack, Bad Egg, Tommi’s Burger Joint, Haché, Mildreds, GoneBurger, Beer + Burger Store. Tickets include a taste of all the burgers, plus a drink!

M Restaurant on Threadneedle Street are mourning the end of summer by recreating it there in the restaurant with a full-on beach. Think sand, splash pool, volleyball, the lot. The event is sponsored by Veuve Cliquot, which means the champagne will be flowing from the beach bar and, as you’d expect from a restaurant like M Restaurants there’s a whole range of foodie snacks on offer, including grilled scallops with chimichurri, burrata brioche toast and crispy whitebait.
