If there’s one thing that The Handbook is known for, apart from the excellent writing, our devotion to all things food, drink and travel, and our fun and breezy style, it’s our puns. If sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, then puns are about half an inch above them. Which is why we can’t get enough (or is this sarcasm? You’ll never know). What you should know, though, is that these restaurants are so punny that we’re laughing our socks off…
It’s the pun to end all puns. The champ. The gold medallist. Tequila Mockingbird.
Found in Putney, Clapham Junction, Brixton and Tooting, Tequila Mockingbird is a bar that sells a whole load of, yep you guessed it, tequila! And if you don’t understand the title then we recommend heading back to school to English Literature class…

This Waterloo Road fish and chip shop has been around for half a century – what the fish! Its name is pretty genius, although the thought of fish dancing is quite the image. Inside, apart from the sight of jiving jellyfish, you’ll find fresh not frozen fish, with cod, haddock, rock, plaice and scampi making an appearance, and the odd special. It’s a tantalising traditional chippie worth a visit…

If you’re not a fan of flat cap wearing Brummies then you might not be familiar with this fun take on popular Peaky Blinders. This coffee kiosk in Walthamstow is worth a wander past to grab delicious coffee to takeaway, fresh and yummy pastries, and coffee bags to take home and ground for your brew method. Plus, if you bring your own cup then you save 40p. Have a blinder!

Imagine a planet full of grapes… So long as it was then turned into wine there would probably be a planet filled with a lot of happy people. For now, however, just one bar filled with grapes will do and you can find it in Bow Lane, as an ideal spot for a glass of vino!
We had a fair few laughs in the office when we found Phat Phuc Noodle Bar. This rude restaurant is certainly not for prudes, offering up Vietnamese fare in Chelsea. ‘Phat Phuc’ in Vietnamese hilariously translates to ‘Happy Buddha’ in Vietnamese, but certainly translates to something else in our language… Either way, the noodles taste amazing and we’d highly recommend them!
