There’s something completely enchanting about London at Christmas – from the twinkling lights and sparkling decorations, to the warm, comforting and nostalgic smell of mulled wine. And as the festive season grows ever closer, we can’t wait for London to light up for 2023. Merry Marylebone, Marylebone Village’s annual festive celebration, always knows how to see in the festive season in style, and this year, they’re doing it bigger and better than ever with the ultimate Christmas lights switch-on and shopping event. The Big Switch On
Get ready for a magical evening as Marylebone Village lights up London with its brand new sustainable Christmas lights display, in support of mental health charity partner Mind in Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster. On Thursday, 9th November 2023, from 3pm to 8pm, you’re invited to head down for an evening of sparkle and shopping. What makes this year’s light switch-on extra special is its sustainability – the lights are made from 19,269 plastic bottles and feature an energy-saving LED system that consumes 95% less energy than conventional lighting.
The festivities will kick off at 3pm, with the impressive Christmas lights switch on from the Devonshire Street stage at 6pm, hosted by BBC London’s Jo Good. There’s also a soon-to-be-announced celebrity guest who’ll be paying a visit…
Magical Market Stalls
Prepare yourself for an evening of late-night shopping, market stalls, and festive music as you wander through the village. Over 30 stalls will be selling everything from festive food and drinks to unique gifts.
Enjoy Viennese dishes from Fischers, indulge in hot chocolate and mulled wine from Nathalie, enjoy Italian-style mince pies from Caldesi, and tuck into lobster rolls from Aubaine. Le Vieux Comptoir will be offering some of the finest French wines and champagne, Lina Stores will tempt you with their delicious Italian delicacies, and Cavendish Pub’s stall will be serving up potato puffs, pigs in blankets, gooey cookies and festive drinks.
If that wasn’t enough, prepare to satisfy your sweet tooth with panettone from The Italians. As well as that, Marylebone’s decadant Italian eatery Carlotta will be serving hazelnut hot chocolates and madeleines at their stall.
On top of delicious food and drinks, Merry Marylebone promises unique gifts from the likes of KOIBIRD and JOTT, with many more to explore.

Your favourite retailers and restaurants will be offering exclusive promotions, festive experiences, gifts with purchase, and specially curated menus throughout the day. Here are just a few of the brands you can visit to get into the festive swing and get your Christmas shopping sorted.

Fun & Festive Activities
Merry Marylebone will offer a range of activities for all ages to get involved. The little ones can look forward to Santa’s Grotto, where they can meet Santa and receive a gift. And for the Christmas crafters, there’ll be festive wreath making workshops with The Flower Appreciation Society, as well as candle painting workshops with Bable, where you’ll be shown how to paint your own beautifully unique tapered dinner candles – a perfect gift for a loved one or to keep for yourself.
There’ll also be a roaming polaroid photographer so you can capture the best moments of the night.

Giving Back
Marylebone Village is spreading the spirit of giving this festive season, with proceeds from the festive activities, including donations to the Santa’s Grotto and festive workshops, donated to charity partner Mind in Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster.
