New London Restaurants

We might be nearing the end of the year, but that isn’t stopping top London restaurateurs from opening up cocktail bars and restaurants this December.

From a Japanese restaurant opening from the Aqua Restaurant Group to a new rooftop haunt to visit, read on to find out the new London restaurants and bars opening this December…

Shiro

Shiro interiors render - New London Restaurants

From the team behind Aqua Shard and Hutong comes a brand-new Japanese restaurant inspired by the buzzy dining culture of Tokyo’s Ginza.

Shiro, opening up on the 5th of December, is headed up by chef Ken Miyake and will specialise in authentic Tokyo cuisine and techniques. Hero dishes include crystal sushi, layers of infused jelly laid on top of each sushi piece; grilled tiger prawns; and ramen set menus.

Spread over two floors, the interiors are heavily influenced by both the Japanese appreciation of nature and the precision of craft, with a textured and monochromatic scheme. The restaurant will also boast an outdoor terrace, perfect for summer dining.

Opening Date: 05.12.2022

Where: Broadgate Circle, 100 Liverpool Street, EC2M 2RH

Florattica

For the best rooftop seat this Christmas, look to Florattica, a new east London haunt with views stretching across St Paul’s, Canary Wharf and the Thames.

Inside the rooftop bar will boast floral installations inspired by east London’s textile industry and the silk-woven floral patterns created by local 17th-century French Hugernots.

On the drinks front, the cocktail menu has been devised by head mixologist Serena Carrino, previously of Nightjar. Look forward to tipples such as Alma, a herby glass made with Casamigos Blanco, hibiscus amores espadin, ancho reyes, lavender syrup and citrus; and a sweet and sour tipple Inca, made from El Gobernador, Maraschino, marigold syrup, lemongrass air and citrus.

Wanting something to soak up the booze? There’ll be a selection of small plates, including salmore tartare with chilli mayonnaise; a traditional lobster roll with crème fraîche, lemon oil and chives; and a charcuterie board with capocollo, speck, bresola and salmae finocchiona to share.

Opening Date: 02.12.2022

Where: Level 11, Canopy by Hilton London City, 11-15 Minories, EC3N 1AX

Croquetas at bar kroketa - New London Restaurants

Heading to Carnaby this December is Bar Kroketa, a brand-new Spanish-inspired bar from the team behind Tapas Brindisa.

Opening just off Kingly Court, the postage stamp-sized space will bring the spirit of Spanish bar culture alive through traditional drinks and croqueta’s taking centre stage on their menu.

Expect an informal affair, home to blackboard menus lining the walls and stool-side seating at the bar. As well as the signature croquetas, there’ll be a daily changing menu of small dishes, from sobrasada and goat’s curd with honey to a crab and aioli toastie.

Ikoyi

Having earnt itself two Michelin stars earlier this year, Ikoyi is relocating to a bigger site at 180 The Strand this month.

The restaurant will continue to focus its spice-based cuisine around British micro-seasonality, from sustainable line-caught fish to age-native beef.

The space has been designed to allow them to “fully express [its] interpretation of seasonality through bold heat and intensify the techniques [it has]  worked on for the past five years.”

Relocaton Date: 12.12.2022

Akub

Making his UK debut this month will be chef and restaurateur Fadi Kattan. Opening up in Notting Hill, akub is a celebration of the under-represented culinary history of Palestine with a more refined, modern approach that Fadi and his business partner, Rasha Khouri, have mastered.

The menu will showcase the best of Palestinian produce while incorporating quality British seasonal ingredients. Expect a mix of small and larger plates for sharing, such as labneh balls; arak cured sea bream; freekeh risotto; crunchy mansaf balls; and dead sea chocolate cake. Pair these with a class of natural wine from Palestine and you’ll be transported back to Fadi’s home country in seconds.

The interiors have been designed by award-winning hospitality designer Annie Harrison of FARE INC, incorporating a colour scheme that mirrors Palestine’s landscape – think olive green, earthy pinks, oranges and sandy tones. There’ll also be an internal courtyard covered by a glass roof filled with olive trees and jasmine.

Opening Date: 07.12.2022

Where: 27 UXBRIDGE STREET, NOTTING HILL, W8 7TQ
