All We Know About Only Murders In The Building Season 5

Crime’s most lovable trio is back: Only Murders In The Building is back for its fifth season. Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez have returned for more sleuthing adventures as Charles, Oliver and Mabel, and you can expect a few new famous faces to appear as guest stars. Excited? Season 5 is out now, and you can stream the series on Disney+ in the UK, with three episodes releasing today [9th September] and the rest available to watch weekly.
What is season 5 be about?

It’s become an Only Murders tradition now for the ending of each season to feature a big cliffhanger to close off the finale, which usually involves a dead body turning up. At the end of Season 4, as Charles, Oliver, and Mabel are walking through the courtyard of the Arconia (having cracked season 4’s overarching case), they spot someone lying dead in a fountain – the deceased is the building’s doorman, Lester.
Who would kill the doorman and why is what they’ll need to figure out, but there are other potential plot threads that season 5 will surely pick up. Sofia Caccimelio (Téa Leoni), who we don’t know much about at this point, contacts the sleuths with a proposition: solve the disappearance of her husband, and get paid considerably for it. And yet, she’s turned down.

It’s unlikely that Sofia and her request won’t turn up again sometime this season, so perhaps the trio will decide to investigate anyway, even if they claim they don’t do cases of missing persons unrelated to the Arconia. Not too much else about the upcoming season has been revealed, or what personal journeys Charles, Mabel, Oliver and co. might embark on, though co-creator John Hoffman said in an interview with Deadline that the show will be more New York-focused, tackling current issues.
Who is cast?
More big-name guest stars will be joining the show to appear in season 5, joining the likes of previous additions like Meryl Streep, Paul Rudd and Eva Longoria. A few famous faces include Bridget Jones actress, Renée Zellweger, two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz, comedian Keegan-Michael Key, Hunters star Logan Lerman, and The Holdovers’ Da’Vine Joy Randolph.
