There are officially seven more Fridays until Christmas! If you’re searching for the best place in London to soak up the festive spirit whilst still being able to cram in some last minute shopping, Oxford Street is the destination to explore.
There’s nothing quite like Christmas on Oxford Street to get you into the yuletide mood, and this year’s theme is ‘It’s the Love You Give’. Last week saw the iconic street transform into a festive haven, with 5,000 white stars carpeting the sky with some Christmas magic. But that’s not all: the street has partnered with charity Home-Start UK to create some special experiences in the lead up to the big day. From sparkling festive windows and Christmas shops at Selfridges and John Lewis, to exclusive shopping and dining offers to soak up, read on to find out what you can expect.
Throughout the festive period, Oxford Street will be treating all of its shoppers to two ‘Magic Days’. Taking place on Saturday 19th November and Saturday 10th December, these two days will offer Londoners the chance to explore the street’s shops, restaurants and leisure brands.
From exclusive offers to free gifts and festive experiences, these dedicated days will help add some magic to your Christmas shopping. A wealth of their shopping destinations will be getting involved, including samples and knot wrapping at Lush; head to River Island to make a Christmas wreath at one of their workshops at the Oxford Street Park House store on 10th December or enjoy a hot drink with every purchase; Intimissimi will be offering a range of events, from a complimentary sherpa blanket when you spend £90 or more in-store on 19th November (offer valid for purchases at their Oxford Street store) to personalised Christmas baubles of 10th December; and visit BOSS in-store on 10th December to try out their complimentary calligraphy service perfect for personalising gifts.
Don’t forget in the lead up to the big day you can catch Mr C himself at Selfridges from 25th November and John Lewis from 4th November.
As well as meeting him, John Lewis has partnered with LEGO to make sure the whole family has a jolly time, with each child receiving a LEGO or LEGO DUPLO gift. Kids can even plant a bean that turns into their very own Christmas tree to decorate at home – nothing like a little magic at Christmas.
Don’t miss your chance to gaze at their festive window displays either – you just know they’ll be spellbinding.
Star of the Week
Christmas isn’t all about receiving, it’s also about giving and Oxford Street has launched a special initiative to help you give back this year. The street is welcoming nominations for inspiring individuals to become one of six lucky people to be crowned ‘Star of the Week’. It’s a chance to give a little love back to those who have supported and helped you or your community more widely in 2022.
In the lead up to Christmas, six Stars will be selected and given a £500 voucher to spend at their favourite Oxford Street store, PLUS a star treatment of their choice to enjoy from a selection of offerings, from salon experiences at Dyson to afternoon tea for two at Radisson Blu Edwardian Berkshire Hotel, a VIP experience at Swingers Crazy Golf to two tickets to experience the wonder of illusion at the soon to open Twist Museum.
Nominations can be of all types and sizes, with no act of kindness to small. The campaign hopes to find those true heroes who deserve some extra recognition and a treat this winter.
Giving the Magic of Christmas
In line with this year’s campaign ‘It’s the Love You Give’, Oxford Street will be giving back to those in need.
Partnering with family support charity Home-Start UK, they will be delivering 100 Christmas hampers to families who deserve some extra love this winter. The charity helps support around 55,000 children and 35,000 families every year, offering them help and support to tackle everything from isolation, bereavement to illness, mental health and financial insecurity.
Oxford Street’s retailers have come together to offer hampers packed with Christmas joy, from custom Quality Street Tins from John Lewis to festive candles from IKEA and thermals from Uniqlo.
Spread some magic this Christmas and head to Oxford Street to soak up the best of the festive spirit in London.
