The Weekend Edit: Are Puddle Trousers The New Skinnies?
Puddle trousers – named for the pool-like silhouette they create at the hem – are everywhere right now and the trend is easier to pull off that you might initially think. Comfy, cool and actually very chic, are these 2022’s welcomed antipode to the skinny jean? We hope so. Scroll for our edit of the best.
If you’re all about comfort the over-the-top wide-leg trouser trend is here for you. Seen in the collections of The Row, Michael Lo Sordo and Bottega Venetta, and trickled down to more affordable brands like Anine Bing and The Frankie Shop, there’s a pair for all budgets. It does pay to invest with these as a heavier, well-cut fabric allows the ‘puddle’ to drape elegantly below the ankle.
Pair with a simple combo of flat sandals and a ribbed vest for a sporty vibe while the weather is still on our side, and swap for an oversized shirt and point-toe boots come autumn.
And of course, the high street has followed suit, with plenty of purse-friendly options at Zara, COS and H&M.
Here are our favourites…
The perfect balance between off-duty and pulled-together, The Frankie Shop’s Tansy pants are polished and comfy. Wear with an oversized grey marl sweater, leather belt and sneakers.
