If the street style photos from Copenhagen Fashion Week are anything to go by, the sequin skirt is big news for Autumn/Winter 25. From mini styles paired with tank tops and trainers to light-catching maxis layered under cosy knits, here’s how the cool girls are wearing them right now.

No longer just a go-to for the Christmas party, the sequin skirt is having a serious renaissance, and we honestly didn’t think it could ever look this cool.

Loads of our favourite Instagram stars have been spotted in the shimmering piece. Take Tessa Van Montfort, for example, in an olive green sequin pencil skirt, paired with a low-key barn jacket – it’s a look of contradictions, but one that totally works, especially for a daytime event where you want to look a little polished and have a bit of fun with your outfit.

Then there’s Dutch fashion influencer Luna Isabella, who has mastered the art of wearing an oversized striped shirt with a chunky sequin skirt – she was spotted in several versions of this uniform over CPFW. And British girl Rebecca Ferraz-Wyatt, who has masterfully layered a sequin skirt with a pretty boho top and flats, proving you can get more wear out of those special pieces.

The key here is clearly making the sequin skirt more wearable and more suitable for the daytime. What’s the point of having fabulous pieces in your wardrobe if you only bring them out for ‘party season’? A sequin skirt makes every day feel like party season, and we’re totally here for it. The satisfying rustle when you pull it out of the wardrobe, the disco ball effect it creates when it catches the light on the dancefloor, and the sheer joy it brings to more mundane pieces. Sequins are the ultimate form of dopamine dressing.

Hand Over is the brand on every ‘it’ girl’s radar right now. Their signature boxer short-style waistband gives even the most dressed-up pieces a nonchalant, cool edge.

This is a piece that will truly work hard in your wardrobe. Dress it up with heels and a cashmere knit, or keep it casual with a slogan tee and flip-flops.
