25th March 2025 | By Andrea Pinto

If you’re a little (or very) scarred from last night’s The White Lotus episode, we’re with you. However, we’re still dreaming of swimming through coral-rich waters and perhaps relaxing at a wellness retreat. So naturally, Thailand is one of the best places in the world for a luxe but affordable holiday with plenty of sun and sand.

With the next season of The White Lotus set in the picturesque Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, we’ve done a little deep dive to find out which of Thailand’s incredible islands are worth visiting this year. Here are our favourites:

Koh Samui

Go for: Beautiful villas, hotels and a truly luxe stay

Where to stay: Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, soon to be very famous thanks to the next season of The White Lotus, is one to book.

At the top of your list should be Koh Samui, an island renowned for its charming hotels and beautiful beaches, paired with great nightlife. Perfectly fusing laid-back beach vibes with high-end experiences, you can sign up for everything from Thai yoga classes to tailored spa therapies that draw from ancient traditions. Beyond its luxurious confines, Koh Samui’s crystal-clear waters beckon you to explore the vibrant marine life—a snorkelling expedition promises encounters with vivid schools of fish and serene coral gardens.

Phuket

Go for: Great Thai food paired with incredible views.

Where to stay: COMO Point Yamu has some of the most striking pool villas in Thailand, sitting on the tip of Cape Yamu, you can take in some incredible views of Phang Nga Bay.

Next, we find ourselves on the beautiful island of Phuket. Known as much for its lively atmosphere as its tranquil beaches, this destination is a culinary odyssey waiting to unfold. For those seeking adventure, the Andaman Sea offers diving expeditions to explore the dramatic underwater landscapes of the Similan Islands, where submerged boulders create labyrinths teeming with marine biodiversity.

Koh Tao

Go for: Great diving, snorkelling and a chance to see stunning marine life.

Where to stay: Langkhai Garden Luxury Villas is surrounded by the sea and jungle and promises an exciting stay. Perfect for relaxing in your private infinity pool facing the sea after your day of diving.

For true diving aficionados, Koh Tao stands out with its reputation as a diver’s paradise. Enrol in a PADI course to refine your diving skills, or join a night dive to witness the mesmerising spectacle of bioluminescent plankton. This laid-back island whispers the promise of discovery both above and below sea level, with hidden bays perfect for sunset views and vibrant street food markets that offer the delectable tastes of authentic Thai cuisine.

Koh Lipe

Go for: A quiet, secluded escape into nature.

Where to stay: Located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Koh Lanta, Ba Kantiang Beach, only 6km from Koh Lanta National Park, Pimalai is the perfect place for a family stay, with lots of activities available on site.

Perfect for those yearning for a slower pace, the serene Koh Lanta offers a haven of natural beauty. Detox from the chaos of daily life at Pimalai Resort & Spa, where wellness is not just an offering but a philosophy. Engage in private pilates sessions as you gaze upon the endless Andaman horizon, and indulge in a bespoke detox program carefully crafted by wellness experts. The island’s serene beaches are ideal for kayaking adventures, where secluded coves and quiet beaches await the intrepid explorer.

Koh Phangan

Go for: A serene escape (beyond the legendary full moon parties)

Where to stay: Set amongst towering palms and crystal sea waters, Anantara Rasananda offers 64 pool suites and pool villas and is home to a luxury spa in a jungle garden. One of the best beachfront villas on the island, Anantara promises a relaxing getaway with plenty of pampering.

Often overshadowed by its party-centric reputation, Koh Phangan is a revelation for those willing to delve deeper. Beyond the iconic Full Moon Party lies a tapestry of adventures—from jungle trekking to hidden waterfalls to discovering isolated beaches accessible only by boat. Nestled in lush greenery, the serene Anantara Rasananda offers villas with private pools. Here, moments of adventure are impeccably balanced with restorative experiences—revel in the tranquillity of expertly led meditation classes or enjoy gorgeous walks on the beach, after a delicious Thai lunch.
