Nothing quite beats a hand-picked strawberry straight from the garden. But living in the city doesn’t quite bode well for lovers of nature and fresh produce. To help you fulfil your countryside dreams, we’ve picked out our favourite spots to pick your own fruit, veggies and flowers near London.
There’s nothing more satisfying than biting into a sweet strawberry oozing with juice in every bite, and at Parkside Farm you’re in safe hands because their fields are brimming with the red berries. Just a stone’s throw away from central London, Parkside Farm has a wide range of fruits and vegetables that are grown especially for their pick-your-own experience, expect to find everything from blackcurrants to strawberries, beetroot to Swiss chard.
They are currently closed but are expect to open the end of June! That’s enough time for you to get your wicker baskets at the ready and practice your pose for your photoshoot.

Spread over 78 acres of farmland, Hewitt’s Farm is the place to go for hearty produce and a fun PYO experience with the family during the summer months.
Having been run by the same family for over 40 years, their PYO experience offers a wide range of produce, ranging from berries to pumpkin patches in the autumn months. Right now their reopening date is scheduled for mid June but we can’t wait to get pick, pick, picking soon.

Expect rows upon rows of sunflowers, veggies and fruit when you visit Garsons Esher in Surrey.
Home to the UK’s largest pick-your-own farm with 30 crops and over 75 different varieties, Garsons is home to the ripest fruits from raspberries to strawberries and fresh vegetables, including sweetcorn and courgettes.
Their farm shop is open but their PYO offering will be opening early June – perfect timing for picking those sweet summer strawberries.

From beetroot to raspberries, runner beans to baby corn, Stanhill Farm is located just 17 miles from the centre of London, which makes it the perfect spot to head if you’re in longing for a day foraging. Throughout the year there’s over 20 different crops to choose from.
Stanhill Farm is hoping to open up its PYO service in June but dates are yet to be confirmed. Keep checking their website for updates.

Get out the big smoke and head west of London to Iver where you’ll find one of Copas Farms, offering a wide range of seasonal fruit and vegetables for you to pick at your pleasure. Their produce is primarily selected for their flavour and uses modern planting and cultivation techniques, using minimal amounts of fertilisers. You’re guaranteed to have punnets of fun with the family while you pick the day away. (Copas Farm also has a location on Berkshire too if you’re headed a little further afield!)

Source your fruit and vegetables in a whole new way at Crockford Bridge Farm’s PYO service. The family owned PYO farm is currently open for essential retail only. To coincide with current regulations, some of the crops in the PYO section have one way systems and there is a minimum charge of £4 per group.

Venture out of the city and into the Sussex countryside as you pick your favourite fruit and veggies at New House Farm Shop in Horsham.
Known more widely for its farm shop that sources only the finest and locally sourced produce, the farm also boasts its own pick your own set-up, which opened earlier in June. Grab your basket and pick all of the juicy strawberries on offer.
